If this is going to happen, we need someone who is not going to change their plan based on the players but push the players hard to adapt. Like De Vries or Howe. Howe kicked St Maxmiman out because he didn't fit the style, despite bing one of their best players.
Too many of out mangers give up on their initial ideas because they can't coach the players to fit the new style.

He's the Sporting manager. Very very talented coach. Play great football and that club has worked wonders at unearthing talent of late.
They knocked out Arsenal of the Europa and looked very impressive.
Again it won't matter though unless we change everything else too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So an up and coming coach from a weak league. Hmm
As talented as Eth was Ajax?;
I'll pass and persevere with ETH, thanks all the same mate!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Pretty much yeah. đ
----------------------------------------------------------------------
đ
You are wumming me now!
You'll be calling for his head in 18 months time and say you wanted Eth all along đ
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I did want ETH above Amorim. Both on my list but ETH was top. Won't deny it. I have been disappointed with him. The style of play wasn't there last year either. We had a solid defence and Rashford on fire. The patterns never came and still haven't.
We can't keep losing games. You say stick with ETH....will you still be saying that if we win 1 of our next 7/8 games which could easily happen? What then?
It feels like the end to me.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So repeat, rinse, repeat is what you want in the hope it sticks? Short termism over long termism. Aren't impatient fans like you part of the problem?
This deja-vu moment will rear it's ugly face at some point in the near future.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No that's fair enough. I have said more than anyone that sacking managers without changes above don't work. I'm going off the premise that we are going to replace Murtough though as the rumours have suggested.
I don't want to see you flip flopping though if we lose the next few games and are out of everything. đ
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Flip flop? No chance.
Until we make the serious changes at the sporting operation level then we are setting up every manager to fail like we have been doing since SAF retired. We seriously need to learn from history because money alone is not enough, we are a classic example of that. Name me one football club who neglects their football and survives? It's just bonkers.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The players have given up on him. When that happens we'd be lucky to win a handful of our next 10 games.
When's your cut off point?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Possibly
Injuries to Martinez and Shaw in particular has screwed him over, Casemiro's form has literally dropped off the cliff. This affected our ability to play out the back and attack down they flanks, especially down the left Shaw used to provide. We are so easy to play against all over the pitch. Confidence is at an all time low.
Last night 3 individual errors led to 3 goals (2 by the same fecking player). Individual errors have been the hallmark of every regime post SAF, what guarantees do we have the new guy won't experience the same? They simply will.
Unless we are rooted to the bottom, I would give Eth until the summer to get it right and then reassess.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Injuries have been cruel. There's no denying it. Newcastle had more out than we did though. In fact I'd say their line up was arguably weaker than ours.
The defence being out doesn't mean the entire attack should look poor though. When we get the ball the defending phase is over and out attackers look like strangers.
We also have spent £415m under him. Most of that money is hard to see when you watch us play.
He's losing sympathy each game that passes.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can't disagree with the loss of sympathy, it's a results based game afterall. With the amount invested we should be seeing better football then we get to watch every week, but I know (you may not because you keep making the same point over and over) investing in players does not necessarily correlate with success. It helps.
There are far too many issues at the club to simply say Eth leaving will fix it. It may fix it for the short term, it may not. Then what? What if the rot is too deep to fix?We just don't know what's going on inside the club, most could be beyond the control of the football coach.
The board would only sack ETH right now if things have really broken down between him and the players, this part we don’t really know and can only guess at but the suspicion is it may be the case and if so and he can’t handle the job he will have to go.
A bit like our results now I’m numb to it don’t really care if he stays or goes, Jim is making sure we’re stuck with Glazer majority ownership making the magic money wand feck off into the distance so the problems are here long term.
the next 2 weeks will be key. If we only get half the available points in the Pl and CL, he'll be gone. We'll be back in the bottom half of the PL, and out of the CL. He won't survive that.

And Eth can do this because there is no alignment between the vision of the club and that vision being implemented by the coach. The main reason, we don't have a DoF let alone a visionary one!
Eth would have been true to his philosophy if he had a DoF to work in tandem, in fact the money invested in his name would have been even more around his philosophical take on football. The deadwood would have been shifted sooner too.
Without a DoF there is no guarantee for new guy will stick to a particular style.

It was painful to watch with Ole a true club legend but I feel little empathy towards ETH, his after match interviews and press conferences are underwhelming and more than anything I cannot forgive the 7-0 at the dippers without doubt the worst result in our clubs history.
The transfer dealings are diabolical and a waste of the budget, he isn’t the whole problem as we all know but he is part of it, our two biggest rivals have world class managers which doesn’t help either, we should have one but we don’t.

Could well be the case.....might just be the fact he's played favourites too many times and they have all had enough.
We don't know if the Varane rumours are true but if they are then he's finished because Varane is supposed to be a very cool and calm figure around the club. If he's lost Varane then he's no chance with the ones who can be very sly.
If he loses at Fulham and in Denmark I just don't see how they let this carry on. You can't just keep losing as Manchester United manager.

Nothing will change really unless what's above the manager changes.
Yes, we all know ETH should be doing better but he's far from being the major issue.
I just don't know any more.
Running a football club when you are United should be relatively simple. You have plenty of clout to get the best in class at the level above the manager and then go from there. Even if you pay them millions per year it's still cheaper than throwing money away on players that don't suit or spending too much on players.

Who ate these best in class people we should swoop for?

ETH could turn it around yet. Not all hope is lost. I'm just being a realist. This situation looks pretty dire for him. If he turns it around from here then he will have played an absolute blinder.
There's mitigating circumstances but he still has to start picking up more wins. 8 defeats in 15 games isn't good enough. If this run continues like this he won't make the new year and nor should he.
If he keeps picking Antony I won't care if he gets sacked though. Genuinely up there with the worst wingers I have ever seen in the red shirt. Hasn't helped himself with this one at all.
Things at the club really aren’t as bad as are being made out. Yes the glazers absolutely suck but if another manager had come in and spent £400 million on good players rather than the ones Ten Hag picked we’d surely be doing a lot better and the heat would be off the manager.
This whole narrative of ‘nothing is ever gonna change’ is tiresome because even under a limited manager like Ole we did have periods of calm and positivity. Imagine we had the holy grail of a good manager who buys good players? They do exist.
Let’s put it this way. If Ten Hag had spent that £400 million on Rice, Maddison, Moussa Diaby, Van De Ven, Watkins and Trippier I’m fairly certain we wouldn’t have been on such a horrific run of results.

The transfer dealings are diabolical and a waste of the budget, he isn’t the whole problem as we all know but he is part of it, our two biggest rivals have world class managers which doesn’t help either, we should have one but we don’t.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Even if we had Pep or Klopp, they probably would have failed with the structure behind them. They were smart enough to realise that which is why they turned Utd down. Any manager that accepts the Utd job with the current regime and setup is a sucker.

Manchester United players turn on Erik ten Hag over treatment of Jadon Sancho and Harry Maguire
Exclusive: It is understood a number of players have privately not agreed with Ten Hag's strict approach though there are loyalists in squad

It’s all coming out, all of these players deserve eternal pain.

Throwing Eth under the bus like they did Ole. Purge on the squad needed asap.

And neither Klopp or Pep would ever sign for us under current structure and for a good reason!
Sad to say 10 years on we are not talking about the evolution within the club but rather a revolution is required!

----------------------------------------------------------------------
The culture in that dressing room knows that if things go badly and results dont come (like now) instead of knucking down and keeping your chin up and working and training harder to fix things ... they can just chuck the manager under the bus and start again. Ten Hag has done nothing to change this and he will be that lot's next victim unless he sorts it out. Now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And let's hope he does for his own future and for our sanity within the fanbase!

Sorry, off topic but Jude Bellingham refused to sign for Utd because we could not promise he'd be a first team player!

Lmao. You mean someone willing to get rid of Rashford or Bruno?
