Fraud.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
City rightly so should be done for fraud. But I am sure expensive lawyers going to save them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I can understand the argument for Etihad or Etisalat being potentially done for fraud if there’s evidence payments happened that they didn’t put on their books but why would City?
The only criminal charges against people within City I can envisage is perjury against those that testified (which was two of them) but that’s it.

It seems a bit of a risky move given his connection to the FFP investigation though don't you think?
….
Why? If City have done wrong they will get punished not him or us.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
These charges City are facing aren't the same as Evertons. They are far more serious as they are essentially fraud. Everton haven't hidden payments. They have been open and honest and fully cooperated. They have just been very careless with their spending and underestimated the ability to recoup transfer fees and also the impact that stupid wages has on a club with no European football and a relatively small stadium by modern standards.
We don't know if individuals at City could be in hot water yet. It's entirely possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bang on. 113 charges. To think only the club will get done for and not individuals if they were found guilty for most of these is very naive. As you rightly said, Everton did not commit any fraud! They did not adhere to the rules set and overspent and got done. City charges different gravy.i

So City were over egging their financials and paying more tax than they needed to? How mighty generous of them. 😂
Well, if that’s the finding then pretty much, HMRC would be happy we were doing it!
That’s not the scenario though, the money in the binding contracts is the same as we stated in the accounts. The accusation is Mansour was paying it to Etihad and Etisalat.
That’s why I said if we’re found guilty, they’re going to be in trouble (well, or the PL is!) as their chief execs said in court it categorically didn’t happen and they also didn’t declare any payment on their books. So they would be potentially up for fraud.
That’s also why I said they’d be utterly stupid for doing it. Reason being there wasn’t actually a benefit to city in doing it - the benefit is for the sponsors and I’ll be more than a little p!ssed off if that’s what actually happened.
The Mancini stuff is the more dodgy one as that’s potentially artificially reducing costs, albeit a lot less. That one depends how much the club were paying him and what that salary was like compared to the market at the time. I’ve not looked into it enough to know.

Just to be clear Melts, even if you were found guilty, I don’t really think the titles should be taken away. This does not sit with me. Relegation though should happen.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Pep left at the end of this season in all honesty. He's been at City eight seasons now and there's nothing more to win. Especially if he gets four in a row.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A part of me genuinely thinks he has found a club where he feels he can build a legacy. I don’t see him leaving if they beat these charges.
Not my fault you were talking out of your backside making the claim Qatar would just pay what they Glazers want
…..
I did not claim that. There you go telling porkies again after everyone on that thread was laughing at your stupidity.
At the rate he is going, I won’t be surprise he can equal Ferguson league titles and surpass it. A frightening thought

posted on 20/1/24
Well, if that’s the finding then pretty much, HMRC would be happy we were doing it!

Are you questioning scholay’s law acumen?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I must admit, the lad was funny as f@ck with his business acumen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Indeed, the SEC as a glazer PR machine was a particular highlight of his business acumen

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Pep left at the end of this season in all honesty. He's been at City eight seasons now and there's nothing more to win. Especially if he gets four in a row.

113 charges, it should be.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
None of them are for illegal activity. If they find us guilty though, due to what happened at CAS, that would be them implicating some people and potentially some companies for illegal activities.

You’d think this is obvious for some simpletons to comprehend.
Just to be clear Melts, even if you were found guilty, I don’t really think the titles should be taken away. This does not sit with me. Relegation though should happen.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If we’re found guilty of the main charges, I’d consider that a given tbh.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do you reckon Pep would stay?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No, I doubt it.
