Anything to actually add to the debate regarding football or are you just going to whinge about what other people write, as usual?

Go cry me a river.
Fancy being such a numbnut that you have to use google to determine Cantona is overrated because some United fans still call him the king.
Cantona along with quite a few more, is imo a Premier League great.
Don't think he was great in Europe (neither were utd) or internationally but based on the Premier League, not much debate.

I guess you could rate Cantona similar to Bergkamp. Both very influential in their teams and had a lot of success with them, scored some lovely goals but not very prolific, assisted quite a few. Both rated very highly.

This seems about right to me.

1in 2 strike rate at international level tbf
Cantona was a brilliant footballer and a catalyst for two decades of success.
I suppose you could compare him to Shankly at Liverpool. Not the best or most successful in the respective positions in the history of their club but so, so vital for club's said history.
Whilst we're on the subject of rating players I saw quite a few clips of 90s United over the weekend. What a bloody good player Ince was.

Sigh, look, we also all know you’re not exactly the sharpest but what I googled was who was referred to as the King, which is Eric Cantona. Dismissing people just because they’re younger (which is not hard let’s face it) is as daft as it is predictable.
Maybe, instead of typing abuse to people who’s opinion you don’t agree with (on an opinion piece), which you’ve done throughout this thread, your time would be better spent thinking about why you’ve had to work into your old age. That way you may not be such an odious, humourless bore.

We were talking about Ince on the LFC thread just the other day. Arguably England’s best ever DM (although loosely used as he was a b2b on a midfield two but I’m sure you take the point).

Like I said not a great. Also played in a transitional French team.
One in two at international level is very good imo, especially back then.

It hasn’t evaluated my opinion ffs

Based on Google telling you some United fans still call him the king. A highly stupid piece of reasoning. Even for you.
Wouldn't really say Torres was only good for a short period of time.
He obviously declined at Chelsea and due to injuries but before that he had scored 172 goals in 386 games for Atletico and Liverpool.
He was basically a 1 in 2 player for 8.5 years.

So for many people, he is seen as a great. Certainly a modern (EPL era) great anyway. On ability, that's questionable imo. Hence, overrated.
................
You are questioning Cantona's ability?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well yes, obviously. That's the thread - whether someone is overrated for their actual ability and/or performances. And it'll be subjective.
Look, I'm not saying he wasn't an excellent footballer. He very clearly was. And I would never deny his influence over Utd. But to take the Four Four Two list as an example, they have rated Cantona above the likes of Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard, Vieira, Keane, Kane, Salah, Bergkamp, KdB, Suarez, Bale, Hazard, RvP (just using midfielders/forwards) - they see him as one of the best ever. That for me is a stretch.
Cantona is certainly overrated in the grand scheme of things.
He basically had four very good seasons in his career, all in the prem but that in no way elevates him to a prem great. Longevity matters. He was a very late starter as well.

I would question Scholes, Keane and KDB being behind him for sure. But being in the top ten is probably about right.
