100 for Potts!
It seems an absolute road of a pitch but still takes skill to come in as nightwatchman and get your maiden 100
Essex missing out on a win, very good knock by 18 year old, nephew of Joe, Jadyn Denly on debut in repelling Porter, Harmer and co given. Rain cost us a session though which has cost us the game there.
Somerset lost 3 wickets in quick time to give Surrey a sniff of winning this game though chasing 209 in 19 overs, they are 105/2 after 10 with Dan Lawrence going well but they've just lost Jamie Smith and Ollie Pope in quick succession. Entertaining end.
Wow, Jamie Overton gone, they've got some big hitters and need to go at 2 a ball but Rory Burns is coming out. Is he like Sibbers and wanting a t20 career too?
Burns gone for a 4 ball duck. Sibley in next. I feel Surrey have stopped taking this chase seriously now
Kookaburra will get a lot more criticism this week but the rain has impacted at least 2 but possibly 3 or 4 games from getting results. If spinners bowl more and seamers have to work on their skills to get wickets without too much assistance from the ball then that's a good thing. Back to the Dukes ball anyway after this week so I doubt anyone has really learned much from the experience.
Yeah there's complaints about the Kookaburra but if we want to create bowlers who actually have to do something different then we should stick with it for x amount of games every season.
Can't keep having bowlers who are successful simply because they bowl 78mph dibbly dobblers that are useless overseas.

Back to the Dukes ball and Shane Snater bowling 72mph dibbly dobblies with the keeper up has 3/1 getting Jennings, Wells and Bohannon all out cheaply. Great as an Essex fan but kind of doesn't change what we already know. These guys get wickets in April and May witht he Dukes ball.

About the same speed Derek Underwood used to bowl spin at.
Haha, indeed, I'm pretty sure I've seen Warne and bowl 80mph+ bouncers from a walk up to the crease. I'm surprised professional cricketers so many of these guys barely get over 75mph but I guess there is no incentive to bowl faster.

Snater’s dibbly dobblers doing the trick.

Lancashire batters were absolutely awful in this game to be honest. There was a little bit of nibble but it wasn't doing a lot. Felt like it was similar all game but I guess Essex had no scoreboard pressure. Shame we couldn't quite get the win over Kent as even with a deduction we'd still be top. Surrey look well set to take maximum points so they'll be 8 behind by tomorrow.
Third century in 3 games for Joe Clarke of Notts. He's batting at 4 but has taken the gloves feeling like that's his best chance of playing for England. He's started the season in fine form and has always been seen as someone who will play for England.
Key has said he would be considered despite his dark past with that WhatsApp group with Alex Hepburn and Tom Kohler-Cadmore, the former got 5 years for r4pe. Joe Clarke hasn't been accused of any wrong doing as far as I'm aware and certainly not convicted of anything. Kind of one of those unsavoury things that will be brought back up if he does get picked.
Somerset got Hameed out at 11:13 then didn't take another wicket all day as Clarke and Young racked up an unbeaten 370 run partnership. Still not inconceivable that Somerset win that game though but draw looks the likely result there. Still some big scores this week despite going back to the Dukes ball. Just some better weather means more play is possible allowing us to get results.
Great result for Middlesex today beating a Yorkshire side that had both Root and Brook in the line up.

Hampshire 365 v Warwickshire 455 & 46-0
Kent 244 & 120-5 v Surrey 543-7 dec
Somerset 454 v Nottinghamshire 193 & 418-2
Worcestershire 184 & 272 v Durham 244 & 397-5 dec
Durham won by 185 runs
Division Two
Derbyshire 167 & 224-6 v Leicestershire 574-7 dec
Middlesex 246 & 158-4 v Yorkshire 159 & 244
Middlesex won by six wickets
Northamptonshire 605-6 dec v Glamorgan 271 & 104-3
Sussex 479 v Gloucestershire 417 & 81-6.
Would be silly to pick Clarke despite his form I think as it'll just bring unnecessary controversy and negativity to the England side.
If they do want to get rid of Foakes it's not like we're short of WK option either with Rew, Smith, Robinson and others.
Cricinfo on Clarke:
'Clarke - along with another ex-Worcestershire team-mate, Tom Kohler-Cadmore - was not charged with a criminal offence, nor was there a suggestion of criminal wrongdoing, but his involvement in a WhatsApp group chat which a judge described as a "pathetic sexist game to collect as many sexual encounters as possible" earned him a backdated suspension and a fine from the ECB for bringing the game into disrepute'.
It's quite a long time ago and people generally deserve a second chance.
They do but court of public opinion and all that will just bring heat England don't need.
Just can't see them going for him when we have other options.
