I have to be very delicate here...but if you remember the rumours about Jason Shackell during his time at Derby....and you will catch my drift...

Bolton edge it vs Barnsley

posted on 7/5/24

Jason Shackell/ Stephen Davies. Imagine one is Wayne Bridge and the other is John Terry.

Barnsley thoroughly deserved to go through. Much the better side on the night and Bolton's third at Barnsley was a fluke.

B's Phillips looks a good midfield player but I do not know his age.

Good age, 26 years old
Managed 11 goals in L1
Contracted until 2026 so would cost a bit of money

Thanks Desi. Pity about his contract.

So, we're suggesting that Rosie was having an affair with a player's partner?

Playing away from home

posted on 8/5/24

Which player? First I've heard of it and I like to keep my ear close to the ground.

posted on 8/5/24

I think it was a general "playing away" ...rather than a specific person... with away games [allegedly] known as sh*gfests...

...so maybe the [alledged] behaviour carried on when he left.... ????

The Hull owner was on Talk Sport and made it quite clear that LR was "sacked" purely for football reasons. The owner wants goals and excitement and feels LR's style does not equate. He said he had talked with him about his preferences and LR admitted that his methods would not tie in with the owner's aims. So it sounds like a fair decision purely on that basis. It is of course quite probable that given another season LR would have secured promotion. No doubt he will now end up at Plymouth or Wednesday if they lose their manager.

I can see LR being approached by a club better than Plymouth, Bristol City for example or Swansea. Be interesting to see where he ends up, ideally with a chairman who will be patient and give him the time and opportunity. His managerial career reflects two sackings and neither one was deserved in my opinion.

So we've got Barnsley, who will the other loser be and an ideal club for us to pick off the better players from? Ideally you want Posh to miss out but do Oxford have anyone we could possibly want?

Other loose rumours today have been

Tyrese Campbell - becoming a free agent after his spell at Stoke comes to an end. Son of Arsenal and Everton legend Kevin, he did have a good spell in front of goal which came to an end after his long term injury.

Femi Azeez - winger with Reading with 8 goals and 9 assists. Was considered highly but his star has faded. Relatively young so could be a decent acquisition who could improve.

Given our switch from 3 at the back to 4 wingers are probably going to get less opportunities at our club with sub appearances likely to make that impact in certain matches.

We've Ward, Wilson as option along with our abbreviated winger NML and CBT. Also we have the option of extending Bark's contract too. Are we likely to get a winger seeking regular game time at the club?

Regards the LR rumours I'm finding it hard to believe, he's such a nice guy and comes across as a decent individual.

Harrison Burrows needs to be a top target if Posh don't make it through.

100% agree. Shopping trip to Peterborough needed asap. Pretty local too which might help persuade him and one or 2 others.

I agree about Burrows and Phillips looks good (from Barnsley.)

I'm so relieved we were not in the play-offs as I don't feel the better sides on the day got through. Pboro were the better side today although O defended well. Barnsley were certainly better than Bolton but that's the play-offs for you.

Fingers crossed on Oxford winning the League 1 play off final.

They'll be favourites for the bottom spot in Championship. Just need QPR and (quick look at the table) Millwall to go down with them.
