Assuming a new manager comes in, he is going to have to work with most of the current squad, so he needs a pragmatic approach of trying to make us tighter defensively and more clinical up front. Simple job really

I think Arsenal and Villa provide a good model here. Once you have clarity of what you want from players you recruit (a certain level of technical security, a certain athletic level, the right profile for the role they will be used in), then you can start to build a team that's more than the sum of its parts. Those clubs have unearthed some gems, and Arsenal have spent some serious money. But not every player in Arteta's squad is elite level. We can vastly improve if we recruit coherently, and I think if we are capable of thinking clearly, we should sell and buy as many players as possible as quickly as possible. We won't turn into a great side overnight - but that's not happening with three expensive signings each summer either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I also think versatility in signings has been useful for Arteta, we haven't signed many specialists. While that could arguably be our downfall at the top top level, having a versatile squad allowed us to compete at that level again relatively quickly.

It’s why I’d sell him this summer. I just don’t think he’s worth the hassle anymore. Would it surprise me if he has decent output next season if he stays? No it wouldn’t. Would it surprise me it he goes back to the sulking, lazy player that offers fack all the season after? Nope, we see it every other year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah I think selling him seems like the best all round for everyone. I think you'd sell him, he'll have a couple of good seasons where people question whether or not you should have sold him (even though realistically he wouldn't have played that well if he stayed), then probably revert back to these sorts of performances again eventually. No shame in it really, motivation comes in different forms for different people, I just don't feel like staying is good for him.
I think the new team behind the scenes have a massive task on their hands trying to get rid f some of the wasters we have on daft contracts.
We won’t see any fees anywhere near the player value. IMO we should bite the bullet and get rid of them on the cheap if needs be.
I would sell Bruno if an offer came in so that we can finally move away from two in midfield.

Again, this is what we had to do, sometimes even continuing to pay wages for players. Sucks in the short term but sometimes its just gotta be done & new owners looking to draw a line under the old regime might be the right time.

Interesting point. While on that subject, what do you make of Havertz as a signing? I've seen intelligent observers draw fundamentally different conclusions. The case for seems to emphasise what he offers out of possession and his role as a flexible enabler of other players to do their thing. The case against tends to home in on the things he's not (not really a midfielder, not a volume goalscorer, etc.).
At last. Somebody prepared to finally flush the bog.
Lets see what laughable offers come out of this mother of a transfer list. Jim must be aware of this, so it seems that he is prepared to write some of the big hitters off.

Yep agree with all that.
I'm still not sure tbh, I actually really really like him and what he offers us but I still think that money could have been used better, so it's hard to say he's been a great signing.
I think in time we'll be able to say he was a good signing, but I don't think its worked out as expected. I think he was signed for his versatility, but he hasn't looked great in MF and we don't seem to play well when he plays with Jesus.
On the flip side, he's ousted Jesus from the side quite comfortably.
I think whatever happens we need to bring players into the squad that are comfortable playing the way the preferred XI would play.
I also wouldn't massively be against three at the back if that gets as many of our better players for cohesion on the pitch at the same time. Dare I say it that I could see a situation where we have Martinez or Shaw at LCB with Antony as the LWB. Could easily be 442 or 433 then as well. What's most important is being able to keep the ball better and also not leave so many gaps in play.
If we can get the players out who is going to want to come in to play for the most deluded manager in world football or are most assuming he will be gone ?

according to the BBC Ten Hag is due to have substantive talks with new technical director Jason Wilcox about what he sees as the state of his squad and the problems he is facing. It sounding more and more like that United are preparing to keep Ten Hag on at the end of the season, so they would have to extend his contract if they do as it runs out in 2025.

Diafol, stop trying to make Antony at lb/lwb happen. It’s not going to happen.

He's going to be the new Antonio Valencia...
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Tbf he's got similar scoring stats to Ben White so he might be on to something

Playing Antony at LB might well be the answer, although of course that depends very much on what the question is

If we can get the players out who is going to want to come in to play for the most deluded manager in world football or are most assuming he will be gone ?

Luckily we don't have the most deluded manager in the world

If he does go back to Brazil and gets sent to prison for beating his Mrs but Ronaldinho and Robinho are in good form on the wings, where will Antony have to play?
