He's a joke. A pathetic Moby tribute act who tried to be a Right Said Fred tribute act but wasn't good enough.

Ten Hag out

New start, new manager

People seem to forget how awful we’ve been and magically think after two years Ten Hag has any sort of plan other than park the bus in the big games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I am not in particularly a fan of ETH, but he just won the FA Cup final by not parking the bus.

You must have confused letting a superior team have possession in a certain part of the pitch with parking the bus.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We had 26% possession and parked the bus and broke. It’s a very good tactic to use against City and Ten Hag deserves credit for pulling it off but it really was a pretty standard tactic to use.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Parking the bus isn't allowing one of you defensive midfielders to pass the ball in his own box and get on the end of the very same attack.

As VC says, we let them have the ball in the areas we aren't capable of maintaining possession. Over the course of the game we created the best chances, but for a slightly delayed pass Rashford would've scored a lovely goal too.

Yes we attacked with pace, how else do you beat City. It isn't FM, you can't just say "everybody sit behind the ball and hit them on the counter", there's a lot more to it than that. Bruno as a false 9 being a bit of a masterstroke imo.

There's plenty of arguments for ETH to leave, but you have to give him credit for that game.

I also saw a post the other day, our first eleven on paper played once all season. That's pretty insane. When you look at the likes of Arsenal, City and Liverpool, they relied heavily on squad players when others were injured, fatigued or they just needed a goal, Utds backup to Hojlund was nobody, our backup to Martinez was Maguire (had a decent season but very different players).

Managers and teams have bad seasons, it happens. I'd argue this season was the exception, but that doesn't necessarily mean that ETH is the right man, or that he hasn't made mistakes. There are plenty of valid excuses you can make for him this season though.

I'm astounded that people are putting forward ETH's poor ability in identifying players to buy as an argument against him staying on next season. We know that a powerful sporting leadership team will control recruitment strategy and have the final say on incoming players. So whether or not to boot Ten Hag rests entirely on his coaching / man management ability and how it fits into the INEOS vision, along with their sense of the best timing to make a change.

Keeping him would wind up quite a few people, which I’m here for.

What I do believe though is that he will shown the door marked ' Do one'. Wrongly imo.
Why Di I think that is that Sir Jim thanked the players, staff, fans, but not the manager. Snide.
But I didn't like our tax evading part owner anyway.
He treated the staff poorly.

It's hardly surprising the way we played on Saturday but I think people to an extent are confusing backs to the wall defending with actually being compact, a basic defensive principle which we've been lacking for most of the season, as well as being capable of getting men behind the ball and back into shape quickly, something made impossible by the way the team has been set up most of the season.

Ten Hag needed to do one thing, either abandon the press and drop the midfield and attacking lines or push the defensive and midfield lines closer to the attack to enable us to press and sustain pressure in the final third and he wasn't going to do the latter against City.

At the moment I don't know what to think. Honestly I'm still leaning towards letting him go because playing the way we had been up until mid-late May was madness and he couldn't really have too many complaints if he lost his job as a result. We had injuries yes, but injuries were no excuse for how he was setting up the team, if anything he should've been looking at ways to protect a lower quality back four which would've needed more protection, not expose it to all sorts of danger. He's had me absolutely baffled this season.

I still think he's a good coach, more than good, one bad season doesn't erase the brilliant work he's done in the past, I just think he got lost in a very flawed strategy this season and if he does end up staying, hopefully that strategy is a thing of the past because having a fully fit squad, buying better players and adopting the same tactics is going to put us back in the same situation, so if he does end up staying, hopefully the end to the season we've had will provide a springboard to something more organised, aggressive and pleasing on the eye next season.
