There’s not a chance anyone would have had Ralston as the second most creative player on the park! Shankland being our ‘most creative player’ when we were chasing the game in the last 15 mins of normal time?! I mean-look at all those clear cut chances he made!!
Mate-in the land of the blind, the 1 eyed man is king as far as that goes. This was a collective failing, but ultimately falls on to the manager. Picking a best performer tonight or any positives is pointless. As is trying to suggest that if Shankland had tried to play for 90 minutes he would have been any more impactful than Adams, who was dire.
Well, as ever with these trips; a fantastic time was had with good friends and masses of giggles and stuff. Great time had and so glad we were there.
As for the football, meh. Never expected anything and that’s exactly what we got. Truth be told, we haven’t kicked a ball since we qualified and if I’m right, we won one out of ten. How anyone expected us to go through with that kind of record is beyond me. As far as I would call it, we went way beyond expectations in qualifying and then slumped just as quickly to our usual standard.
The players are in the main good enough to at least attempt a challenge but the manner in which they lined up, the tactics deployed and the general negativity which is clearly instructed, ripped away any hope we might have had.
And of course we were very unfortunate with injuries.
My boys summed it up perfectly by saying it was just like watching Celtic away from home in the CL.

Most of the other crosses hit the first man. We had a handful of shots. There was no creativity whatsoever, not hard to be most creative for us today
Shankland clearly had a positive impact. You’re spouting a load of nonsense, but don’t have any alternative and suggesting the stats are wrong

Pi$h, just pi$h
This isn't knee jerk at all, Clarke simply has to go
All good and well qualifying for these tournaments, but playing as negatively as that when you get there is fcking pointless, embarrassing, and mind numbingly boring
Only thing we got unlucky with is the penalty shout, but other than that, we hardly tested Neuer, Gulasci or Sommer in 3 games
He persisted with playing Ralston, better tonight I'll admit, but obviously just his depth.
Callum McGregor is an aging Barry Ferguson in disguise, fcking crab, squarebaw or backwards every bloody time
Got to be so so much more positive than that...the lot of them, can only be the managers instructions telling them not to, which is baffling when this game is your last chance saloon
Had enough man, even if we didn't concede late on, we deserve to go home after serving UK what we have in these 3 games
If you don't believe your squad can go toe to toe with the likes of Switzerland and Hungary after beating the likes of Spain and Norway to get there....you shouldn't be manager
----------------------------------------------------------------------
So out of everything you think it's the Celtic players to blame?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You read it that way if you want mate....don't think anything I've said isn't true
I'd slaughter the Rangers players if they played badly....there aren't any
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We read it that way because they were the only 2 you name-checked.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Well I do apologise, but I felt McGregor was extremely negative tonight....and that Ralston has been out his depth since the kick off in Munich
Do you disagree?
Not my fault they are both Celtic players
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The other 9 starters were OK then, aye?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I know McGregor is a far better player than he showed, that's why I picked him out
As for Ralston, no other player looked anywhere near as out of depth as he did...he was a lot better tonight, but still not great......after 10mins Vs Germany in Munich, could see he was struggling at this level, Clarke made the poor lad play every single minute up until the 83td minute tonight, so it's more a dig at Clarke than Ralston himself really, not his fault Clarke seen him exclusively as the only option at RB for almost the entire tournament...and the only other option he did try was Kenny fcking McLean in defence
Folk were screaming for Forrest or McCrorie to be tried, neither played a minute
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough, Stevie.
Overall I don’t think we had a single player who shone, or was even good TBH. My biggest criticism is of Clarke though. I’ve given him praise at times, and he got us qualified well. He’s also been seriously hampered by injuries in positions where we’re seriously lacking cover. BUT he was so staunchly defensive right to the bitter end that he needs to just fook off now. The surly, pash media persona has also become beyond tiresome. You’re getting stick because we’ve showed absolutely NOTHING all tournament, you muppet. There’s no other agenda.
I’m not suggesting the stats are wrong. They are stats. Stats give a number, they don’t tell a story or give context. You said Ralston had a decent first half-would you have him as our second most creative player tonight?! I didn’t.
Your point was that he ‘did well’ when he came on. He didn’t. What chances did he actually create? The through ball to Armstrong?! How often did Adams have a midfielder in front of him to try and target with a pass…
He made no tangible difference. If you can’t see that, then that’s up to you. Adams was poor, so was Shankland. Being statistically better means zip when he didn’t score and didn’t create any clear cut chances. He’s a journeyman footballer, and is indicative of the level of player that we’re calling on.
Just seen Clarke’s interview. Wow.
Almost as embarrassing as the result.
As predicted, zero responsibility taken.

Agree with you both, its Clarkes responsibility to at least put on fresh players to try and win matches. Lewis Morgan on 89 mins, yeah, go ahead son, this is what I brought you here for. Go win the match And the players that never got a look in, the top teams are all blooding youthful talent. Conway should have at least 20 mins

How was he ‘far more creative’ than anyone else?!
Only one saying it is you, btw. He was poor. He had the advantage of coming on against a tired defence and what actual chance did he make?! Never mind ‘yuh man, but like, here’s a stat’-what actual chance did he make?!
I don’t doubt the stat-I literally said in the land of the blind and pointed out that Ralston was second top-and wtf did he create?!
The stat you’re quoting is utterly meaningless. He created nothing of note. Not a thing.
Being more creative than the p!sh that was on before him is not setting a very high bar here, and that’s when you then take into account the timing of his substitution, the changes to personnel, etc.
I don’t rate Shankland. He’s had a good season and should have been in the squad as a result of form. Adams is not much better than him, but he offers some mobility.
This isn’t a hill to die on for you btw. Although, I think you’re already spread over a few other hills anyway, so this isn’t surprising.
Clarke’s whole strategy of hit the ball for Dykes to hold up until I’m prepared to commit more than one player in support was fooked before they travelled and he failed to come up with anything better with the excellent players at his disposal. Southgate tactics and nobody wants to watch.

It was Shanklands cross that setup up the Hanley header chance, was the best cross of the night from anyone in dark blue, actually cleared the first man and found a Scotland head
Was also Shanklands that took the ball in well, ran with it a bit and played in Morgan for his chance but he didn't look confident and his shot was easily blocked
As for Adams...the best thing he did all night wasake a decent run, got played in by Hendry, we won a corner and Adams then shouted towards the Tartan Army as that was about the most productive thing he had done all night.....play was then brought back because he made his run too early and was offside
Fabulous

Your point was that he ‘did well’ when he came on. He didn’t. What chances did he actually create? The through ball to Armstrong?! How often did Adams have a midfielder in front of him to try and target with a pass…
He made no tangible difference. If you can’t see that, then that’s up to you. Adams was poor, so was Shankland. Being statistically better means zip when he didn’t score and didn’t create any clear cut chances. He’s a journeyman footballer, and is indicative of the level of player that we’re calling on.

He was far more creative than anyone else the full game in the short time he was on, that’s clearly doing well. Everyone saying the same thing, bar you.
And I made the point myself he had players up next to him, when Adams didn’t.

Fabulous
