Even though it's flat I don't think they'll chase 350+. Still, I'd feel more comfortable if the lead was 400. Stokes may be happier with a more achievable target though.
No declarations now as others say. Can we creep up to 400- definitely will be the minimum we will be wanting.
32nd Test ton for Root. Amazing.

What happened to Smith-Rowe at arsenal, not good enough, not enough opportunities, Arteta don't fancy him, always thought he was a decent prospect

I'll keep his name in my username until he goes, which looks likely
Sadly injuries have been his main problem and I'm not sure Arteta trusts him tactically. The Trossard signing kind of killed him though as Wenger used to say as he occupies similar spaces and basically got the minutes that Smith Rowe would have got.
I think Arteta would like to keep him but he's probably our most valuable asset of players that we could sell with minimal impact on the squad.
Crucial mini partnership this- perhaps might win us the match in the end.

It's a cut throat industry that's for sure, a move could be good for him, the competition is huge for these youngsters coming through
Not sure Gus should be turning down singles. Bashir isn't a complete bunny so just take the runs lads. If it was Stokes, Brook or Root well set then fine. I'm sure he will go and hit a 30 ball fifty now though
Windies shouldn't put everyone back though but I do get it if we are going to refuse singles. It's the same mistake we made though.

Its a very inexperienced batting line up and even on a good pitch, it's a big 4th innings score. Bashir I'd expect to have a bit more of an impact given he's actually going to get a bowl on a day 4 and day 5 pitch. It'll be a good test for him regardless of the result but you'd hope an attacking captain with runs to play with would allow him to be used in a very attacking way.

Khushi back for Essex today after his loan, 181.
Feels like throwing our wickets away in the 1st innings is going to bite us on the @rse here.
I know it's early days but I expect Windies to get close here given how flat the pitch is.
Ripping through the top order now.

There are some really promising young players at the club but he's brilliant. I really hope we get him back in first XI this summer and send Browne off to Northants or something, give them Rossington back too.

Feels like these big chases always start well before a top to high middle order collapse. I'm sure Crawley and Duckett made a few good starts in India before we collapsed.
I had to go upstairs to clean the bathroom out came back down and we had taken three wickets.
Funny old game.
82-5. Another one for Bashir.
