There’s rivalry and banter, not sure about dislike, that’s for basic people who take tribalism too far. I have a load of friends who are Liverpool fans and we rib each other all the time. Not really sure how you can dislike someone simply based on who they support, unless you’re a f-cking moron or maybe don’t even know who these people are that you supposedly dislike.

Adult human beings should be capable of experiencing tribal loathing of their arch-rival teams while keeping things in perspective and understanding that these feelings start and end with the football we're watching. I'm find with absolutely hating Liverpool FC when it comes to matches. I want them to fail, and I want their fans to suffer as a result (like their success made me suffer as a kid in the 80s!). But it shouldn't go further than that. I respect LFC as a club, admire a lot about the culture around the club and the distinctive civic culture of Liverpool as a city. And I have no interest in judging other people or basing how I relate to them on what team they support. Being on this forum should have taught everyone that there are sociopaths and bores who happen to like the same team as us, and great people who happen to support a different team. As a youth in Manchester we all played a game called Red or Blue. It involved approching another youth(s) in the street or at the park or in a ginnel/alleyway and asking the question Red or Blue? You had to think quick when confronting this question and give the right answer. Failure to do so would end up at least with a smack in the face and at worse a facking good seeing to.

I have no issue with LFC as a club; respect them and see them as a massive successful club etc

The fans are the most annoying worst of the worst however. Most most annoying arrogant full of rubbish and least humble you can meet most the time.

This is the sort of comment that really gets me! We had many years of Liverpool dominating football and I’m sure this lead to a lot of gloating, arrogant, ‘unhumble’ fans. But for United fans to be blinded to the fact that EXACTLY the same is true of them due to their dominant period is just laughable!!
