If Mazraoui can stay fit that would be good because then Dalot will be a sub.
--------------------------------------------
If that's the case it just means he'll play more at LB.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Why must you do this to me?
Is Mazraoui even going to stay fit though? He'll be in the treatment room along with Shaw and Malacia.
That’s a good question.
We need to sign the Turkish Zanetti.

Dalot is the personification of average.
I think Dalot and AWB both seem like nice lads and seem to try (which isn't the case for some) but they're just not good enough.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
And I still prefer AVB. I think stats back him up to. He is not the fancy one every team seems to want now, but he is the what a team like us needs

I like AWB bit I do find it a bit odd that I'd back myself over a pro footballer to ping a crossfield ball to the opposite fullback!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The same could be said for many pro footy players.
It does shock me how sh!te some of them are at various things the average amateur player could do with their eyes closed. Using both feet, for example, heading the ball, pinging a pass across the field.
So many pro players struggle with the basics but they become so ridiculously good at a few things it gets them into the top teams, that and insane levels of fitness.
Is Mazraoui even going to stay fit though? He'll be in the treatment room along with Shaw and Malacia.
---------------------------------------
Knowing our luck probably not and we'll deserve everything we get for bringing in another defender who gets regularly injured after last season's crisis. It would be interesting to see who's driving this.
I do like Mazraoui btw.

We have too many players who are well below the required level in terms of controlling the ball under pressure and passing between the lines. A team might be able to cope with one player in their back five / six not being great at this and still play the ball out from the back, but we've had three or four in that category. We need to replace them. And until we do, we don't have the luxury of selecting one of them in favour of a player who doesn't have those drawbacks.
The RB position seems to be pretty short of talent atm, globally-speaking.
I remember FourFourTwo doing a ‘top 25 in the world’ article a few months back which included both AWB and Dalot (around tenth iirc?), as well as the likes of Trippier, Matty Cash, Darmian and Frimpong (who still isn’t an RB).
Maybe we should be sticking with Dalot and looking for a player we can develop to suit the kind of football the technical teams wants us to be playing in 2-3 years’ time. (A 21 year-old Cancelo clone would do nicely if there are any about… )

Experts who can’t corroborate the quote or the stats.
You just need to watch a bloody game of football to see that tackling is an important part of a defender’s job, and that they will regularly need to make them when they’ve not made a mistake to know it’s nonsense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe this will help further your understanding. Enjoy, it's a good read as to why Maldini went to ground less frequently, instead relying on his reading of the game to anticipate a pass to nick the ball off an opponent.
