Struijk seems a confidence player. He has all the attributes of a top defender, excepting maybe a bit of agility, but struggled badly in our relegation season. Maybe effected by the Elliot incident and the left back experiment. but by the end of that season he was a car crash of Rash decisions and errors. He looked much better last season… but playing in a dominant team at a lower level. How he’d do at prem level again? Jury’s out for me. Be a nice problem to have to find out.
I use my analysis on Struijk as a litmus test. If you don’t agree with it you obviously don’t know football
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I remember period in Prem where every goal replayed showed Struijk out of position or having been beaten.
I think he's completely average at best I'm afraid.

I dont get why we are willing to pay 25m for a midfielder yet scoffing at the 16m-18m asking price for Hamer. Signing him weakens our rivals. It makes no sense unless this kid is amazing. Hes 21, I get the feeling hes one for the future. We need more experience!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Isnt that how transfers work, you have valuation for a player, its irrelevant what you have offered for a different player.
Or are we saying lets pay upto £25m because that what we offered for someone else 🤷🏻♂️
Its madness to think way.
…true and sometimes the funds come from a different investment/transfer pot too… sometimes these bigger bids by us and others for younger players considered to have a high ceiling (eg the gakpo/de ketelere money eventually went on rutter… it would never have been available for a 27 year old like hamer.
Rutter was never what we needed for a relegation scrap but there was budget fur investment

No that wasnt my point at all. I just dont get why would potentially risk 25m on an unproven player whos 21 when we know Hamer can do it at this level and hed be cheaper!
Our aim should be getting out of this league as a priority.
If it's true Sallai was willing to come, don't understand how we can't get that deal done when he's out of contract in a year.
However not completely disappointed in the window with the signings we've made. Plus if we keep Gnonto think he could be used more centrally on a regular basis.
Would be great to be pleasantly surprised though.

If they're asking for more than 10 million euros for a player with one year on his deal then the club are right to cut negotiations. That's ludicrous.
Struck getting judged for playing a position that clearly didn't suit him by a manager who I'm sure everyone here doesn't value the opinion of. He's possibly the best defender in this division (almost certainly top 5). Not being able to see that is just weird.
Also we didn't bid 25 million for Baturina that's absolute nonsense. Good player, mind. No point talking about that money being available because it's made up.
Cannot fathom how anyone on here can be satisfied with our acquisitions. We've massively underspent and because of leaving it so late have missed out on players we clearly wanted - and undoubtedly overpaid for the players we've managed to buy. The men in suits have once again let the fans and the club down.
Hyperbole out in force there.
