We had two objectives in the summer. One was to increase the squad which we’ve done and the other was to replace the first team players we sold, which we haven’t. Dawson is still excellent but Mosquera and Toti are good but inexperienced.
Having said that I thought Sunday was a decent defensive performance. Goals from 25 yards can’t be blamed on centre backs. The first was very unlucky as it was set to be an easy save for Johnstone until it was deflected. The second was an excellent shot with our sub right back Doherty at fault for allowing Barnes to drift infield and get a shot away

Dawson was absolutely at fault initially, as he kicked the ball out of play when under no pressure whatsoever.
He's not "excellent". He's an average player that West Ham let go because he isn't good enough.

Dawson is excellent and has been through throughout his time with the club.
You said Ait Nouri was playing inverted, do you even know what that means? He played left back, same as he has every time he’s played this season. Just this time he played better.
You said Lemina was dropping back to play in a back five. He actually played ahead of Gomes and Andre which is why he was on hand to score our goal
All in all you don’t really understand what you’re watching

Interesting to see what defence we put out at Brighton tomorrow in the Carabao Cup. Evidently Mosquera, Dawson and Toti won’t be fit to play. Neither will new signing meupiyou. Santi Bueno will play, who knows who else.
Hope we see the likes of Rodrigo Gomes, Lima and Forbs get some game time.

Mosquera, Toti and Ait Nouri all will miss tonight’s game due to injuries but should all be fit for the game at Villa on Saturday. Dawson will be rested tonight as will Semedo and Andre.
Brighton too will make a number of changes to their line up and have a few injury problems themselves with Pedro, March, Rutter, Milner, Lamptey all likely to be missing
