Having spent a few days in Germany and had the misfortune of meeting him and observing his behaviour, i'm somewhat sad to confirm that our latest 'celebrity fan' Peter Schmeichel is an absolute warmer and a total phoney.
Rarely seen anyone so far up his own erse and with such total disregard for fans. Contrast with Jim Craig, Murdo McLeod, Roy Aitken and others i met. All first class gentlemen.

dont be such a tease , what was he upto ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He was a few rows in front of us at the Killie game and whilst I never spoke to him watching his body language and interactions with others I got the same impression from afar.

Just being a d!ck in general. For example, one guy came over and quite politely asked for a selfie only to be told that he'd already had an autograph and that was 'enough'. Loads of stuff like that. Posed for a few photos but deliberately looked totally miserable. All unnecessary stuff.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
always sad to see , i get they must get a bit fcked off with it but at the same time the must realise its part of the package

that and the game itself aside how was the trip ?

Great trip. Got to Dusseldorf on Saturday. Watched the St J game there in the local CSC. Day trip to Cologne on monday. Went to Dortmund Tuesday morning.
Stadium is amazing. Imo the noisiest and most atmosopheric of the 'mega-stadia'. Well worth a visit for a game.

i'm not a fan of rodgers, i think he is decent, but tactically in europe he's been a brass neck.

its got to a point i think theres no value in giving him 10 million for a single player if he cant use them right in europe.

Think he fully warrants the pelters

Hoping I can trust the beeb this time, but they had a stat yesterday saying he's the only manager in history that's seen his team ship 7 goals in the Champions League on more than one occasion....and not only that, it's actually happened 3 times (Barca, PSG, Dortmund)

Kinda says it all that.....with different squads and different players.....he's seen his team get horsed

If it was a one off fine.....it's getting to be a regular occurrence under him

Do you think Brendan deserves to take stick for the way he's setting you up in games like this...or is he doing the right thing, playing the way you play and not changing it for anyone?

My opinion doesn't matter. As ever, if he keeps winning the league he keeps his job. No different to any other Celtic manager.

Others might disagree.

So the journos in the record today have given their forecasts for our game tonight, and not one of them have us getting beat, 1-1, 2-2 or 1-0 to the Rangers

I really don't think any of them have actually had a look at the squad Lyon have, there are some decent players in their ranks like

Tagliafico (world cup winner)
Veretout (french international)
Matic (former Chelsea/Man Utd)
Maitland Niles (former Arsenal/Southampton)
Lacazette (former Arsenal)
Benrahma (former West Ham/Brentford)
Mikautadze (joint top scorer at the Euros)
Zaha (former Man Utd/Palace)

Very good chance we get skelped the night

I think he’s a good/very good manager for us domestically … embarrassingly naive tactically in Europe, and couldn’t coach/organise a defence at any club he’s been at to date (he just gets away with that most of the time in Scotland). He’s also a b3llend whether at home or abroad.

Jeez, it is never ending!

It looks this season like he's adjusted our tactics to be more like Ange's pretty much before any new signings had any impact. Is this the same manager?

I remember Lenny getting cuffed 4-1 twice by Sparta Prague - every bit as bad a 7-1 off Dortmund IMHO. I remember BR getting cuffed 12-1 from PSG over two legs with the rookie Ralston up against the most expensive player ever. Oh yeah, we finished 3rd that year.

I remember BR beating Feyenoord last year - did you know their squad is valued at >>2x ours? And drawing with Athletico who's squad is 5x ours? Was that the same Brendan Rodgers? Beating Leipzig at home with ditto squad 5x ours. Naw, wiki must be wrong?

See if you look at ALL our scores over ALL managers, yeah there's occasional outliers but pretty much we are EXACTLY where the money suggests we should be. Don't give a monkeys what other teams are doing in other competitions.

And before I get the 'slurp' back in my face I'm on record as preferring not to have him back!

comment by St3vie (U11028)

You make fair points Silver, but I'm quite sure you could still be exactly where the money suggests you should be, without suffering total and utter skelpings along the way.

You talk about Atletico and how you drew with them last season....you then went away from home and got battered 6-0 by the same team

Other than the 5-0 defeat at home to PSG, the rest of the humiliations you've suffered have been away from home....doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that perhaps the tactics should change a bit when you are visiting teams like this and not hosting them
