. I think we're going to need some more squad churn for Amorim to shape a really fine team, and I believe that if we really want to get back to having a seat at the elite table, we have to be willing to sacrifice short-term performance in favour of the slow process of sticking to new footballing principles.

RR, I agree. Building a high quality team under Amorim will likely demand substantial squad changes. However, given his relatively short contract, will he actually be given the time he needs? It's doubtful, especially if he doesn't start delivering results quickly. This season's priority is simply to avoid the embarrassment of being pulled into a relegation battle, if he manages that, it’s a small victory. Next summer will be telling, as the sporting leadership must further shape the squad to support Amorim’s long term vision.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm sorry, but if we get involved in a relegation battle, or anywhere near it, that is ridiculous. I still expect a top 6 finish tbh.
And we can't make any predictions about signings until we see how Amorim does with the current squad. remember the players than have been brought in were ones that Ineos wanted, and part of the longer term plan, so let's not right them off so quickly. We have youngsters who should improve.
Of course no-one want to go OTT (or too scared to at this earl stage) but let's not be overly-pessimistic

I get it, being a Leeds fan myself (lets try and keep this sensible lads please) - its difficult to let accept that your time has past. not the current players fault? - all era's pass eventually.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh era's pass sure, but bloody hell have you seen these figures..
Goals scored: 9 (18th)
xG performance: -7.8 (20th)
Shot conversion: 6.4% (19th)
Big chance conversion: 19% (20th)
There are 7 or 8 teams above us with no elite players who are performing better than this.
I don't believe the fans were hurling abuse as they came out the tunnel. For the first 20 mins the crowd was right behind them. There was a lull later as we started to look like thick pea soup, but again in the second half the crowd were right behind them everytime we won the ball back or went forward.

We are massively underachieving, and the league table doesn’t lie. We're ranking near the bottom in almost every key metric. While our form is concerning, there’s a glimmer of hope in our ability to create chances. However, consistently conceding goals and struggling to score is relegation form. The gap between where these players expect to be and where we actually are should be a source of embarrassment for each and every one of them, but it may also be affecting their confidence. Right now, morale seems at an all time low.

I don't disagree with the current assessment, but the season is still young. I would add that at least we seem to be creating chances, but it's the low conversion rate that is hurting us. But it would be disappointing if that doesn't improve somewhat with Amorim's arrival, and just the new players settling in more etc. A few goals midweek and a 1-1 draw against Chelsea isn't a disaster, and there's a good chance of boosting morale before Amorim arrives with some winnable home games.
Of course we are impatient and feeling down, but we can still turn it around.

ok, well still attempt to debate this, as I;ve said a few times to try and keep it sensible, you're kind of proving my point being 'toxic' and not discussing it sensibly, oh well.
Farke is doing well - I do think with us (Leeds), its been so long since we were anything decent, we're now used to it... but it took a while, even in L1, the atmosphere could get very toxic if we weren't cruising games, we had no right to expect to beat these teams 6- 0.. but for some reason we expected it.
United remind me a little of it these days... the fans at the tunnel at OT yesterday were hurling abuse at some players...
that creates a very toxic atmosphere

I think some of the players just can't handle the pressure of playing for Utd, its not the same as other clubs due to higher exposure in the media and social media, they are far more scrutinised due to the popularity, effects the managers too. The weight of the shirt is too much for some players.

As we approach the halfway point of the season, I agree there are still plenty of points available. Let's treat this as a new chapter in every sense. The games before Almorim's arrival can be viewed as a pre-season of sorts! However, those players need a big wake-up call, they’re in danger of sleepwalking into the fire! It will require a massive effort from Almorim and his team to make a cultural and mindset shift in such a short time. It's exciting and I am also nervous as feck, too!

Big chance conversion: 19% (20th)
There are 7 or 8 teams above us with no elite players who are performing better than this.
I don't believe the fans were hurling abuse as they came out the tunnel. For the first 20 mins the crowd was right behind them. There was a lull later as we started to look like thick pea soup, but again in the second half the crowd were right behind them everytime we won the ball back or went forward.

correct, very toxic - but its the fans at the ground creating this culture.
my pal a United fan went to the Chelsea game yesterday, the abuse shouted at your own players from the tunnel awful.
I get it, being a Leeds fan myself (lets try and keep this sensible lads please) - its difficult to let accept that your time has past. not the current players fault? - all era's pass eventually.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeh era's pass sure, but bloody hell have you seen these figures..
Goals scored: 9 (18th)
xG performance: -7.8 (20th)
Shot conversion: 6.4% (19th)
Big chance conversion: 19% (20th)

Our players just aren’t very good. It’s why so few of them start for their national team.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I would simply say that they are better than where they are in the league. They are more than capable of a top 4 spot, and at worse top 6. Just hope Amorim fulfills his undoubted potential with us also
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think you’re going to be in for another surprise this season then.

. I think we're going to need some more squad churn for Amorim to shape a really fine team, and I believe that if we really want to get back to having a seat at the elite table, we have to be willing to sacrifice short-term performance in favour of the slow process of sticking to new footballing principles.
---
RR, I agree.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We are massively underachieving, and the league table doesn’t lie.

I don't think we'll be any relegation battle tbf. I wouldn't pay too much attention to team positions,
The points between 4th and us is quite concertinaed. Despite our mediocrity atm we're 3 points off Newcastle, 4 points off Spurs and Villa.

I think that's when you need a strong manager with good man-management skills to help players cope with that. ETH just lacked those skills, and if anything, suffered from being Utd boss also. Let's just hope Amorim can cope with it better
