I think you need to mention Biden also - even after he left, which was way overdue, he was causing problems.
And ultimately, for me Harris did not come across as a very inspiring person or would be a great leader. I'm not saying Trump is that for me personally either, but to the people voting, for all his flaws, you can see why people would vote for him over Harris.
I'm not sure Harris came across as very competent either. Not being Trump is not enough for a lot of folk voting.

Just saw this on the BBC live feed which I thought was pretty spot on.
"In some Democratic Party circles, the postmortem is already beginning despite a result not officially having been called yet.
One Democrat political operative in DC texts to say the party "needs to flush out elitist snobs in DC for a start".
Others have told me the same, albeit less bluntly - that while they praise the efforts of the campaign, they feel the party as a whole has an 'image problem' at a time when basic, everyday things like the cost of living are front of mind for most voters.
This Democrat despair brings to mind a conversation I had with a Republican at one Trump rally who said their candidate had completely "reimagined" the Republican party from its country club voter stereotype to appealing to working class families, while the Democrats had become the "party of Hollywood".
These are big generalisations, but ones Republicans publicly, and some Democrats privately, now share."

The funny thing is the US is this facade of almost everything in society with women given 'extra points' to get them over-promoted in the workplace. Of course, extra points for having other minority traits. Yet underneath all this gesture politics is a cynical core of misogyny and right wing thinking that prevails in silence.

Kamala didn`t go wrong at all. You have to remember that USA is such a fecked up country, filled up with oddballs, so they were happy to vote for a convicted criminal se@ offender, a person that tried to overthrow the last election, a tax evader and dozens of other unsavoury things. So no surprise really given the mess of most of the US electorate. Oddballs is an understatement.

She was a painfully weak candidate who was not clear on what she stood for. Her campaign was based upon the fact she was woman and wasn't Trump.
The democrats lack credibility and Biden cost them.. should have made it clear he wouldn't stand again at the 2022 mid terms.. giving them enough time to find a credible candidate with a clear mandate
Trump had a tidal wave of support who was crystal clear on where he stands = landslide victory.

Maybe the Dems could try offering a real alternative? For one election cycle, just to see what happens? Give them a European social democratic alternative.
Ask the American people if they want universal, free-at-point-of-service healthcare and affordable medicines. Ask them if they want statutory maternity and paternity leave. Ask them if they want social housing. Ask them if they want real employment rights. Ask them if they want a state pension. Ask them if they want a federal minimum wage. Ask them if they want sick pay. Ask them if they want proper food safety standards and pollution controls.
It’d be interesting to see what the response was.

He isn’t just an anti-vaxxer; that’s just the tip of the iceberg. He’s a completely lost lunatic.
One fun example: he doesn’t believe that the HIV virus causes AIDS, and that instead, it’s the result of “lifestyle choices” and people’s “environments”.
I don’t think healthcare practitioners could work under his governance.
