the backward passing at celtic has to stop. you can't claim to be a team thats comfortable in possession but your midfield and defence can shirk responsibility and just keep sending it back to the keeper.
The goalkeeper who is forced to play the forward pass that the midfield and defence were too cowardly to play themselves, it's a real lack of responsibility.

Whats more perprplexing given the above is that;
the league - Celtic strolled it
If Celtic rock up at Ibrox with their flip flops on having secured the league already and Rangers win that game then surely it must be the first time one of the OF has won 9 points out of 12 in head to heads but lost the league by double digits.
Rangers gift wrapped the title and handed it to celtic by clinging on to Clement for so long.
I dont think we have the squad to win the league but we could at least have put some pressure on Celtic if we had made the change sooner - and when most fans were calling for it.

celtic have a chance to get their house in order for next season, i feel like if the league was closer we would look more up for it than we have been.
the problems at celtic aren't going to change because they are ego driven by the manager, its brendans style to pass the ball about the back 4, he is fine with that we have seen it plenty from him.
celtic cant play that way, we dont get enough practice at it in domestic football.
posted 1 week, 3 days ago
It definitely should be more interesting next season.
Of course anything can happen with the takeover but in theory if a well run sporting organisation comes in that has some money to invest, can put a couple of well aligned experienced and qualified guys on the board, that bring their established recruitment analytics models wrt players and even a manager, then Ranger have the potential to move up a couple of levels pretty quickly.
No Rangers fan is under any illusion that the way club has been run has been shambolic for years. Its been far to easy for celtic to sweep everything up with no real challenge.
As much as agree there is a chasm in how the clubs have been run I dont think there is such a chasm between the teams. Rangers runs in europe and the last three OF games have shown there is a basis of a decent team there.
The 'rebuild' was only about 60% complete last two transfer windows and it wasnt entirely successful. Its been clear all season where our weaknesses were in squad in terms of sheer numbers and quality. But when most folk are fit we can do ok. Nowhere near enough to win a league but enough to show promise.
But there are 7 or 8 players there I would keep that you could consider good enough to challenge regularly for a first team slot that you could really add to.
I am optimistic about the takeover. I think it could truly transform Rangers and hopefully the era of free trophies for Celtic can be put to bed.

i'm not fussed on the takeover, its more lucrative to put money into leeds and they dont really seem to have done that.
dont get me wrong, all rangers need to start with is to be managed better in the boardroom. Scotlands a fickle enough league that they just need to start beating the other teams and hope more than 50% of the old firm games go their way.
Celtic need to toughen up, its a riddy that "get intae them" is enough to make us panic.

22/23 spent more than they brought in but they still brought in 100 million and thats when they were in the premiership.
23/24 - spent roughly what they brought in
24/25 - 130 million difference in what they brought in v what they spent.
point is, they arent going to spend megabucks without bringing in cash surely

I think the three recent OF games and our Euro run show they dont need to spend megabucks.
There is the core of a decent team there. They just need to plug the gaps in the squad and add a few of the right types of players that can help us beat the block.
Celtic have winger and a target man they can call on to mix it up when all else fails. We dont.
If the 49ers dudes put in say £25m which bought us 5 or 6 of the right £4-5m players and added another 3 or 4 very strong Bosmans to that then our squad would be in a very happy place. Probably a couple of levels above where it is now.
Yes there has to be outgoings to balance the wages for that but its not too difficult to identify 8-10 players currently still on the books we would happily offload.

The penny should have dropped when Calmac was out. Instead of hubris that the £11m man could do the job just accept that a derby will be a battle, a midfield battle - win the battle & win the war. In hindsight, should have maybe matched up in there moving AJ up and putting Ralston in or putting GT in front of Schlupp cos we were relying on one winger anyway.
