I don't think you understand the term "Power Shift".

i think everybodies a bit excited a 30 billion team beat man united 6-1.

imagine it was the other way round... us winning 6-1, would we be creaming ourselves like all the city, chelsea, spurs and arsenal fans?

God knows even why the hell they are supporting some corrupt arabs b itch team over a real team like Manchester Untied.. at least we have earned where we are!

So after years of belittling Liverpool for bringing out the history card, you have finally decided to use it yourself.

What a marvelous representative of Manchester United you are.

Power shift does not represent what you've done in the past. It reflects what you can do in the current.

I think Adventures of Batmanu worded it best.

When the REIGNING CHAMPIONS talk of their titles, that's not history, it's the present

Power shift? at the moment it looks that way, there is no point talking about what we have won in the past as it means nothing, its done at its history, we need to look at the present and the future.

As a certain City fan sang "Don't look back in anger"

The money spent at City so what we have spent enigh over the years, you have to get the right type and blend of players.

i think if City keep up the spending they will win trophies for the next few seasons, so did Chelsea, everyone said it was a power shift even before they won their first premier league but it didn't work out that way

I'd still like to see what happens if City are clear by a pt with 6 games left. Would they do an Arsenal and blow it?

I suppose the OP is of the opinion that the power shift from Liverpool to United only happened last season when United won their 19th league title.

and Ripley, to an extent yes. 19 was a momentous moment for United fans, did you miss that ?

Football is about the here and now. Over the years I have witnessed some dire performances by City. But they mean nothing now. A 6-1 humiliation of local rivals on their own midding and 5 points clear at the top of the league is all that matters now. I will bother about the future when the future arrives.

'History' is what United fans use to have a dig at Liverpool fans. Now that City are 'current', United fans are using 'History' as a way of having a dig at City!

Hmmmm!

Its way different.
Liverpools glory days are long gone and have been for 20+ years..
Manchester United are still the best team in the league and will continue to make history

So why write a desperate article like this? Articles like this are almost as if admitting defeat.

City are the 'current'?!

Current... FA cup holders ?

Current... big victory at Old Trafford holders (Liverpool are not happy to see this one nestling at another club)

posted on 24/10/11

Batmanu is right it almost sounds like your giving up on City for a few seasons so falling back on our honour list...

Do not fear, FFP will stop their outrageous spending and with them spending reasonable levels of money they will probably slowly get worse like Chelsea did when they tried to cut their spending... (although without the sudden injection of Torres and Luiz to save their season)

I never said otherwise.

if we are looking at the here and now, that victory only matters if it wins City the league and we wont know that for months.
The here and now is that United are current league champions.

If only the present counts then 6-1 to city tells us that city are the top dogs in Manchester now

GregUnited (U1192)

"Manchester United are still the best team in the league and will continue to make history"

The first part of your statement is incorrect and the second part is devoid of any factual substance! Actually, the second part is as reliable as me saying that United will not win the league for the next ten years!

'Current' as in not a reference to the past, i.e. Liverpool in the 80's, they are not a historical reference, they are currently a real challenger for the PL!

Yes, United won the league last year...but City are currently the best team in the PL.

Who do you think are the best team at the moment? City because they are top, or United because they were top 6 months ago?

Form wise they are top of the tree at the moment...

Though it is worth remembering that even Kennys Liverpool had some good form last season but this season aren't exactly inspiring anyone...

It is all very well being the form team of the moment but it is actually winning things that counts...

Admittedly City could win the title this year or next but Fergie as usual will return with an even stronger team...

Though this number one in a city business is a bit tricky, surely the greatest in an area need at least some recent historical success (or at least better than others in the area)

Or could we for example declare Everton the best team in Liverpool the one year they finished above them ? (pools Cl winning year to be exact)
