Well I'm sorry for spoiling your afternoons by using the word travesty, but without dwelling on the semantics, I think most followers of the Premiership would agree that there has been one stand out performer this season and good though he may have been, it isn't Wayne Rooney.

Yes because you watch EVERY Arsenal game and are therefore more informed than me

RVP is only so important to us because we have literally no back up for him, it is not because he dictates how well we play.

And yes there is more to it than goals and assists. I was only using it to enforce my point. Why not take a look at the quality of the goals? There is a stark difference.

Or the sublime touches RVP takes all game long.

The thing is people have backed RVP all year. Rooney has only been backed for the past few months. If Silva had played like he did at the start from Jan instead, he would undoubtedly be up there too.

People have very very short memories.

Paul Scholes only played half a season but you're right he was the stand out performer.

well thats your opinion mate, but im sure Rooney would be the happier player come the end of the season, and im sure RVP would give up his nailed on cert player of the year award in exchange for a PL medal.

He's definitely up there.

If assists aren't good enough, look at key passes per game.
RVP makes 2.3
Rooney makes 1.6

If Rooney is a striker, he should be up the pitch. Not chilling with Evans and Rio

Sounding like a Liverpool fan Lex, I would never have thought that of you.

There have been quite a few stand out performers this season, Kompany and Silva for City, Rooney and Valencia for us, RVP for you, Demba Ba and Krul for Newcastle, Mata for Chelsea, Dempsey for Fulham etc.

The world does not revolve around Arsenal, being trophyless for seven years really should tell you that.

Theyre not good enough either

Different scorers in the Premier League this season:

Arsenal: 17
Man Utd: 16

One man team.

It doesnt take long for the Mancs to show their lack of grace

tkae Rooney out of united team and we will always score goals, up until recently if you had taken RVP out of arsenals 11, honestly, where would the goals have come from?
-----------------------------------------------------------

Maybe you should look at the last 4 games which he has not scored and not really done the assists to answer your question....But as I mentioned before you believe the media then your own eyes.....if you are gonna stat fact etc watch the team you are slating....

also the problem everyone is doing is just seeing RVP score goals...then ask what would Arsenal do without him....but he has played in almost all the games and if you have someone who scores why bother to change it ?.....No one has even had a chance to see how they will do because RVP has been amazing.....

also I do not agree that someone is 100% certain for the player of the year...it is between these 2 players....

But I do think it will be RVP...(yes I am biased just like you Man U fans will be)

im not biased, i wouldnt have an issue with RVP winning it, however it is the fact someone said it would be a travesty if he didnt i had a problem with.

Rooney makes 5.9 long balls per game.
RVP only makes 0.7.

Didn't realise Rooney was a stoke centre back. Fair play, 20 odd goals is some achievement then.

If only they handed out an award to the Premiership's happiest footballer...

Well, 20 goals in a season is an achievemnet for RVP.

I think he has only managed it twice in his Arsenal career.

Irrelevant. We're taking about Player of the Year for this season, not past ones.

A shout out to both Kompany and Carrick. Should be contenders IMO.

RVP will win it though.

I think Rooney will get 3rd if he can hold off the challenge of Demba Ba
