Breaking: Enzo Maresca is the main candidate to become new Chelsea coach. He has convinced on style of play. Release clause €10m. (@DiMarzio)

Didn’t he nearly bottle the championship after having a 15 point lead over Leeds?

Chelsea target Kieran McKenna has been offered a new 4-year contract by Ipswich. They also expect an offer from Brighton in the next 24 hours. De Zerbi and Ruben Amorim remain in the frame at Chelsea. (via @CharlieWyett)

I didn’t want De Zerbi over Poch but he seems like the best realistic option remaining. Just glad we’re not paying Brighton.

Amorin would be my first choice.

Reece James on Instagram:

“Thank you for everything boss. We had an amazing relationship from the moment we met. I never played as much as I would have hoped under you, which I am sorry for but also something I couldn’t control. You believed in me and gave me a huge responsibility when many others doubted me. Also a special mention to the other staff that played a huge roll that not many others would see, Jesus Perez, Toni Jimenez, Miguel D’Agostino, Sebastiano Pochettino. Thank you all and good luck in the future!”

The #Chelsea players’ WhatsApp groups went ‘into meltdown’ and agents were quick to try to verify the news of Mauricio Pochettino's departure for their clients.

'An unamed club have paid Brighton compensation for De Zerbi'

posted on 22/5/24

🇩🇪 According to Sky Germany, Bayern Munich are currently fully focused on Vincent Kompany, as he is desired by other clubs. Information about former Chelsea head coach Pochettino was obtained in recent days, but concrete discussions between the parties have not yet taken place.

The touted shortlist makes me sad - McKenna, Frank & Marseca.

Wanna if Potter will come back?

I thought compensation wasn't required for a manager that quits.

Welcome to Chelsea Roberto

Style of play suits what Chelsea owners want down to a tee, has worked with two members of the Chelsea hierarchy at Brighton, and has developed three Chelsea players (Colwill, Caicedo, Mudryk) at previous clubs. Get De Zerbi, @paulwinstanley9 @Loz_Stew @ebehdad

Hard to get excited about the new hire, in and amongst the disappointment. I'd probably opt for De Zerbi but that's mostly because I know very little about the other names. De Zerbi has still done a good job at Brighton in my mind, and whilst they finished lower this season he did have to contend with losing their two best players (Caicedo and McAllister), Europe, and injuries with a small squad. One of my main concerns is that he seems opinionated and therefore I can't see it really working with Boehly and co. It's just a crazy situation....

Sky suggested that Boehly and Co are putting importance on next summers club world Cup, which was just after Poch's contract would have expired. They suggested if Poch wasn't convinced he'd extend that would have also been a factor in the parting of ways
