This entire tournament has been Southgate holding us back with his team selections and tactics, and then individual quality quality dragging us through.

Went behind in every knockout round. That's not a good stat by any measure.

Kane shouldn't be starting for England again either. As unless he's been carrying an injury, it's clear his legs are completely gone. Couldn't hold the ball up and couldn't run in behind either. Has been a passenger in pretty much every match

Once again he was too reactive with the subs. Waited until going behind before making the improvements that could have been there since the start, or at least half time.

In the last 10 mins Spain were on the front foot again so he was thinking of bringing on Gallagher. But then they scored so he was again too late. The warning signs were already there so you have to act there and then. Don’t wait until the damage has been done.

In any case, congrats to Spain - genuinely deserved it. Have been the best team by far this tournament - only ones who've been playing proper football throughout

Watkins wasn’t even good but he offered so much more than Kane. That much was obvious so why are we artificially limiting ourselves for the first hour before doing that. Most teams try to win from the start. Why handicap yourself when it’s already difficult enough.

I was so surprised to hear everyone giving Southgate credit after the last match. The one match you apparently played well in. It’s like all else was forgotten just for getting there.

He has been the negative throughout. He is literally negative. Until he panics and throws on the players who go for it because it’s all they can do. So reactive and predictable. Exhausted your players as well. Never rotating unless forced upon him.
