Dern: Not just the comment(s) on here but the reports on the rest of the tinterweb.

He's a shot maker. People should just accept it. He's not a plodder or an accumulator like Cook.

When KP plays in defensive mode he gets criticism off all for not playing his natural game.

Drop KP before one day he loses you a whole Ashes series on his own and believe you me it can be done

Congratulations to England on a really EASY win!

It was convincing in the end & England were the better team for 3 out of 5 days play.

However West Indies can take a lot of heart from their performance in this Test Match & their fight back in the 2nd innings.

England will easily win the Test Series 3-0!

Windies made a bright start but Cook is the big danger man along with Bell.

England have a very strong & long & mean batting line-up. Windies need to bowl a lot better & find a way to take 20 wickets if they are to win Test Matches especially against England IN England!

Ideally i wud like to see Powell & K.Edwards dropped for Gayle & Sarwan & F.Edwards dropped for S.Narine then Windies might have a better chance!

Windies need to bat better & make partnerships. Bowl better & take 20 wickets & keep the momentum/apply the pressure.

If he was he captain and the game revolved around his decisions I'd agree with you. As it happens though, you're speaking out your bottom

Some of the comments are stupid Sheriff, i like KP but he is frustrating sometimes

What on earth does captain have to do with it when he's batting. Every batsman has to play responsibly when the situation requires it.
When other players get out playing thoughtless shots they get it in the neck, yet people like you excuse Pietersen as a law unto himself.

Last but not least - Bresnan lucky winning charm continues!

Where would England be without him & would England have won this match if Bresnan was NOT in the team?

Hope the west indies continue to show the fight and spirit they did in this test match - certainly more competitive than the previous 2 years with pakistan in 2010 and india in 2011.... More of the same please

Afridi that's spot on but I fear at Trent Bridge their task might be more testing.

Yeah Hope, i agree... I think england beat both pakistan and India by 350+ runs and look formidable there with the quickies.. If the windies can put england in first on a cloudy day and get some luck, who knows.

ok, got home after a very hard day at work in my truck, but the Norwegian Oil Industry now has enough equipment to keep on pull oil out of the ocean floor

The round of golf that followed was a disaster ( what's new) lol

Now let's summarise what happened in this first test match.

England took 20 wickets without much bother.
England almost made 400 in our first innings.
England chased down a score of nearly 200 and only lost their fourth recognised batsman when the game was over.
England have been poncing around in the Sub C and looked ring rusty and hardly got out of second gear throughout.

Verdict - Complete and utter annihlation of a side that did as well as they can.

As colourful as always with your words maksi . Comfortable victory in the end, but no-where near an "annihlation" mate

No Grande we would not have done. That mans presence is massive in this England team. His presence both around the changing room, pavilion and on the pitch gives everybody a lift. He plays, we win, and everybody in this England team knows it.

Not his best test match, but we know he has so much more to give - Bressie

At least the WI made a game of it.

Afridi.

Just reading through all the posts and agree with all of you. It would be great to see the Windies pick their levels up a notch but I fear they might already have seen England at their worst.

We will certainly pick our levels up a notch during the series and good luck to the Windies when that happens. I still expect England to win inside 3 days

The Windies definitely had a good go at us, but they will go the same way as all the others in England

I think England have not lost a test match at Trent Bridge in almost 6 years since Murali & Sri Lanka ran England riot in 2006!

Trent Bridge is a fantastic home to England & looks to continue that way come Friday unless West Indies can find a way to take 20 wickets & recall a spinner & 1 of 2 batsman between Gayle &/or Sarwan!

We on ja606 don't pick, or drop anybody The selectors will pick who they feel is good enough, and generally speaking they have done a great job, if we look away from Patel, Morgan and Bopara, but I didn't see any of them around today
