RED - looks pretty damning http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/chelsea/9400836/Rio-Ferdinand-appears-to-endorse-choc-ice-race-traitor-insult-levelled-at-Ashley-Cole-on-Twitter.html

He was a young 6ft 4" footballer growing up in Glasgow, he got into a couple of scuffles & had the temerity to win............................shame he didn't have Stevie G's brief

RED666, he definitely tweeted it, he even went so far as to deny what he tweeted was racist and deleted after people complained. The guy is a moron and thinks that we're all too stupid to realise what he's done.

Reggie I think he said that choc ice is a well known slang term for someone who's fake?? There's a coupe of sites got the twitter page images so it's hard to deny. It's about time Fergie banned his players from twitter.

the choc ice comment is as racist as you can get.

it says that people of one race should behave in one way and people of another race should behave in another way.

it also says that the person in question is behaving like a member of another race.

it doesnt get worse than that imo

I am with you on that one.

BR banning your players as well I assume?

If Rio gets punished it will be a complete farce and they will lose what little (if any) credibility they have.

Ferdinand is saying it's a term used to describe someone who's fake, which is not quite the definition that you'll find on the internet, or anywhere else. He knows it, we know it, that's why he's deleted it and tried to defend his actions.

I wonder what ferguson has got to say over it?

posted on 16/7/12

why would a choc ice represent someone who's fake ?

even if he was saying that cole was fake (which he clearly wasnt), in what way was he saying he was fake, other than in a raicst way ?

Why on earth would you wonder that?

I wonder whether Garth Crooks has been asked to comment on this? Or whether Clarke Carlisle will have anything to add? To be fair to Clarke Carlisle, he's been following the right path since the Terry case, if you want to tackle abuse, attack it at the right place, how one human being treats another, regardless of the form of abuse.

BR can ban our players from twitter when they act like Rio

Why would I wonder what ferguson has got to say over it? Because he was vocal enough when he thought his player had been wronged, how about now when one of his own players is clearly being racist.

Obviously it isn't that clear, only that you want it to be. if SAF deems Rio has acted inapropriatlly he will take action.

I thought that was going to be a whoosh but gambled on it.

I would just like to see some consistency from the FA.

They chose to ban Suarez for (probably) abusing Evra and using a racial word. They declined to ban Evra for being abusive, despite him admitting this was the case.

What will they do with Terry who was abusive and has used a racial term? How will they deal with Ferdinand (Anton) who Terry states used the same racial term and how will they deal with Ferdinand (Rio) who endorsed and broadcast a racial term about a fellow professional.

The FA being the FA will more than likely do FA... yet Suarez has had to suffer a ban and a fine and has been labelled and stigmatised as a racist, because it fitted their agenda at the time. They have set a precedent with Suarez, let's see if it's followed.

I think everyone would like to see this. It has been something fans and clubs have asked for ever since I have been following football, and probably way before then.

An intersting thing here is that Cole's Lawyers have stated there will not be any charges.

Definately out of character for Lawyers. Maybe, just maybe, this one is a bit of a nothing story.

The fact that the BBC dragged up an opinion from a former NBA player that no one has heard of, tells me that is likely the case.

i havent followed basketball for years and ive heard of him. i think he's the most high profile 'brit' ever to play nba or something. he was a big deal i believe.

Like I have said in other posts, Rio has handled the tweeted comment comment in a bad way, and keep his mouth shut

How come there is all this disgust on what was tweeted and yet Cole is ok with it.
