How come there is all this disgust on what was tweeted and yet Cole is ok with it.

.........................

Exactly.

Looks to me like the BBC trying to make something out of nothing here.

Even the Sun has removed it from its front pages on the webite.

It is now running a story about abuse Rio is getting from Chelsea fans.

He should just quit with this tweeting nonsense and get concentrate on football.

And cole is still ok with it.

It's PC correctness gone mad... but I still want to see some consistency after the Evra/Suarez debacle.

I'm really starting to dislike Clarke Carlisle and his PC rent a gob, which probably makes me a homophobic racist in his eyes.

as he should be. calling this a storm in a tea cup is overstating it's seriousness.

It was a joke about his mate who he's not happy with at the moment. And he laughed. Then his mate said he had no problem with it.

Not even handbags.

Thats just it Cole is happy with it so why are people getting up tight about it.

It reminds me of the Pacheco tweet to Johnson. One friend tweets to another then the PC brigade and the faux outraged (not forgetting the media) tried to make something out of it that wasn't there.

Carlisle is bandwagon jumper, who puts his finger to the wind, to see what might be the popular opinion at any given time.
I recall him having a go at Andy Carroll, regarding diving, and defending Ashley Young, even though he said he had not seen the incident.
He called for players to show more morality, and set a good example to young people watching, and playing the game.
When I tweeted him, to remind him he was in the middle of serving a drink driving ban, and was not in any position to start giving advice on morality, he sent me a personal tweet saying how upset he was, that I was making the discussion personal.
The mans a foolish hypocrite.

I would say that's it's because racism isn't just about the indvidual, it's about using a stereotype of the whole race to make someone feel inferior. And of course it reinforces the idea that it's OK to say those kinds of things in the public arena.

Ashley Cole may have been the one it was directly aimed at but Ferdinand used 2 races to imply that there was something wrong with Cole actions.

The FA are apparently fast tracking the action over Terry. I find it amazing when reading the reports that journalists comparing the two cases are still referring to Suarez use of the word negrito - a word he didn't use!

Off subject but I read a while ago an article about football songs, in the readers comments below one person had written that every club sang YNWA, it wasn't a Liverpool anthem until after Hillsborough. Why do the mis-informed feel the urge to comment?

Duncan beat up a burglar. What would you do, send the missus down to sort it out

posted on 16/7/12

PJ's - he beat up and head-butted quite a few people and has the convictions to prove it, one was on crutches, that was a fair fight! My point was there are some players who have the same behaviour off the field as well as on it, Suarez isn't one of them.

To be fair to Duncan Disorderly, he did make Paul Ince defecate himself during a derby game. I kind of miss the old school hard-men in football. he may have played for the bitters, but I actually quite liked him as a footballer, he brought some character to the game.

His jailing for an on pitch incident was an utter farce.

posted on 16/7/12

Paisleys - He was jailed because of 3 previous incidents off the pitch. On or off the pitch it became a police matter and as I understand it he had to serve time. Had it been a first offence probably not.

posted on 16/7/12

Just read up and he was jailed because he was on probabtion at the time of the offence, I knew it was a case of they couldn't not jail him but couldn't remember the reason.

The salient point is that it was not a police issue, it was football issue, that some balloon made into a police issue & he was therefore prosecuted for an assault.

If every other head butt or punch was treated in the same manner, the courts would be full of footballers

Bitter

Last I heard, football grounds are not sovereign territory where someone elses laws apply. Just sayin....

& when some fruit decides that the long arm of the law has a place on the pitch, that generally goes well doesn't it.........................just sayin.........

The law is definitely an ass but so are the FA.

posted on 16/7/12

Reggie - you're right the laws of the land make no distinction between football fields or anywhere else. In this case it was the Scottish laws. Nobody reported it like with the Terry case, it was an automatic arrest for violent behaviour and as he was already on probation for a violent crime there was no option but a prison sentence. My only reason for bringing in the names of other players, Ferguson being just one of those names, was to make the point that some players have the same behaviour on and off the field, Suarez isn't one of those players. I personally couldn't care less about Ferguson.

posted on 16/7/12

In fairness this was the SFA & they allowed him to be hung out to dry, that was always his beef.

The SFA reported it, as he never even got a card during the game, they did him on video evidence & the Police then got involved.

Ferguson grew up & lived in the hotbed of Glasgow & didn't put a foot wrong when he came down to England, to besmirch his character & portray him as some form of 'thug', in order to make an inane point about St Suarez is pathetic, even by your one eyed standards.

So on the pitch violence is okay?

posted on 16/7/12

If you had read he thread back you'd see that my comments about Suarez on and off the pitch were in answer to VC's comments about him being a despicable person. To me a 'despicable person' would have to show signs of their 'despicable' behaviour in their life not just in the sport they play. (despicable isn't a word I would use as I've seen truly despicable people and John Terry et al don't come close to it)

I gave a few examples of players like Barton and Ferguson who are violent in their lives away from the sport they play. To me that's more an indication of what type of 'person' they are rather than what type of 'sportsman' they are. If their aggressive behaviour spills over into their everyday lives then it's in their nature.

And no, violence on the pitch isn't ok.
