im guessing that what mike said to him at thee dn of the fight was either
"that's the hardest ive ever been hit" or
"that's the hardest fight ive ever had"
he was never the best bowler in the world because shane warne and glenn mcgrath were still playing he was the 3rd best bowler in the england team behind freddie and simon jones
=====================
he was the nr 1 bowler in the world

"With the West Indies touring England in 2004, it was expected that Harmison, who had also shone in the three-match Test series against New Zealand earlier in 2004, would again be England's lead bowler, and the West Indies captain Brian Lara went as far as suggesting that England had no plan B after Harmison. However, Harmison was outshone by spin bowler Ashley Giles for the first three Tests, before he took 9 wickets in the final Test match. In that final match, he also punished the West Indies bowling with the bat, hitting three sixes and three fours in a brief innings ending at 34 not out. Harmison's bowling performance in this match took him to the top of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Cricket Ratings. In 2004, Harmison took 67 wickets in just 13 matches, at a superb average of 23.92."
just for the record my list remains untarnished after tonight's conversations, subject to the inclusion of stephn roche at nr 28, and the somewhat dubios inclusions of ricky hatton and pendleton at the bottom of the list.
all other allegations made against the contents of the list have been invalid.

Actually JPB, she showed a photo with Pendleton as well as Wiggins, so
You say it's not just based on golds, but previously said you put Pendleton lower because Trott already has 2 golds. Pendleton has lots of WRs and is a multiple-times world champion too. Your argument is flawed, methinks
Any chance of Golds today ?
JPB.. been bit busy so no time to get involved in your list, will take a look later and give my oppinion
good debate going on though mate
Are there any Brits in the Decathlon?
That hammer thrower was alright
our long jumper Shara Proctor should have a shot at a medal

-first person to make tyson stagger
-one of the highest number og KOs in the history of heavyweight boxing
-national sporting icon
-one of the biggest acts of sporting bravery you'll ever see.
blueblood - your comments about pendleton are totally inconcsequential to the list. if you think that she is one of britain's greatest ever sportsmen (ie significantly higher than nr 86 in all sports) because she has got a photorgaph with laura trott as a junior, or for any other reason, then it's you who is misguided on this. the only question is whether she desrves to be on the list at all, and i have already put her on it.
Sharlene Thomas is promising in 1500 - but will probably come up short
i'm thinking the mens 200m will be a non starter GB wise though
why are we so damned poor at sprinting..
