nice one weare. yes. i would be very interested to see your views. i agree that there has been good debate on it, and with a couple of exceptions i'm satisfied (and pleased) that the list has stood the test of scrutiny so far. Rave made some good points about boxing but i feel i was mostly able to address those. the other interesting point raised imo, was the inclusion of stephen roche which i have now adressed.

No, I don't think she should be near the top. But I do think she should be higher than Trott and am merely pointing out the inconsistencies in your arguments for Trott being higher, and Pendleton not being a hit higher up. The fact that Trott is female means she naturally would look towards any female cyclists as her first inspiration, and the fact that Pendleton has achieved significantly more in her career than Trott has right now not to mention her lasting legacy for female track cyclists, means IMO that she certainly deserves to be higher than Trott at the very least.

to be fair to jpb and his list on the criteria for the entrants you can see his point on bruno, i just dont agree with the criteria.

maybe you are right blueblood. imo though if you are, it does not discredit the whole list as i think you suggested. in terms of the question you have raised, i would point out again that trott has already (at 20) won the same number of olympic golds as pendleton, with olympic golds being the pinaccle of their sport. i would also point out - as has been suggested by another psoter aswell - that some of trott's performances (especially the elimination race in the omnium) suggest that she is an outstandingly gifted athlete, which is just the type of thing which is credited in the list, eg seb coe mo farah, sally gunnell etc. i recognise your point about being a pioneer in a sport, and agree that it is a notable one, however in my opinion pendleton does not merit a place in the upper reaches of the lsit, notwithstanding that she may have been influencial (as well as others) on younger cyclists. neither imo, does it mean that she necessarily merits a place above other younger cyclists.
