, the league tells the truth and after 38 games every team deserve to finish where they are.
---

We relied on a monumental collapse from Spurs, as well as Chelsea having a poor league campaign and Newcastle who gave us a close run but got worn out at the business end of the season.

I would argue we relied more on other teams dropping points, rather than us accumulating points based on our own results on merit.

We were also fortunate that van Persie didn't get injured. If he did, we would have been screwed seeing as other players were profligate in front of goal.

If the FA hadn't persistently bugged Harry about the England manager job, we could have been playing on Thursday Nights. There was only a 1 pt difference between Spurs and Arsenal in the end and the FA essentially ruined Spurs' season by unsettling the manager.

Anyway, that's in the past now, and I'm looking toward the upcoming season. And at the moment, I can't say I'm confident especially looking at the players other teams have bought.

Well, we were before our owners bought us Wenger. Didn't you lot get in to the top division in the first place by paying your way into it?

Melton, have you seen much of Nastasic? He's a prospect, and a gamble like Savic. He could come great or flop, we don't know yet. And when we lost Vidic we had Evans to rely on who filled his shoes very well last season. We've got 5 decent center backs, I just can't wait for Smalling to come back who's arguably our 2nd best defender. Agreed with you on the goals part SAF has taken losing the title on GD badly, and just bought attacking options in.

Spurs lost Modric, VdV, King, Pav and replaced them with Dempsey, Siggy, Dembele, and bought a 37th keeper.

hmmm

Losing 3 of your 4 best players doesn't have the appearance of strengthening.

Samir,

I think Arsenal will do better than people think, I really like some of the people you have brought in. The only worry I would have is that Wilshere has been out for so long, there is a real chance he won't come back at the same level he was.

I really hope he does though, massive talent.

Despite how poor Arsenal were last season. Arsenal still managed to finish in the top four. That reflects poorly on the teams that finished below Arsenal.

A "one-man team" managed to finish above 17 other sides.

Samir, you and Liverpool had a pretty poor window. Check this gem out from Rodgers:

BR last week: 'I have got Suárez,Borini and Carroll. I would need to be a nutcase to even consider at this moment to let Carroll go out...

They've lost their best players every single year,
---

So how can you expect us to finish 3rd/4th when - by your own admission - we lose our best players every year and don't replace them adequately, then we see teams around us buying excellent players to reinforce their own squad?

Like I said, teams around us are improving drastically and our board aren't willing to sanction the necessary funds to purchase the calibre of players we want.

My spurs season prediction in a nut sack.
1) Man utd.
2) Man city.
3) Chelsea.
4) Arsenal.
5) Spurs.
6) Newcastle/Liverpool.
7) Liverpool/Newcastle.
8) Everton.
9) swansea.
10) Fulham.

SPURS achievements.
FA cup/Europa league trophy in the cabinet.

Carling cup Finals.

RVP,

I don't think he is as much as a gamble as Savic was, he is highly rated in Italy and I saw him a few times playing for Fiorentina, he isn't far off being a very good player. He looks a lot more comfortable on the ball than Savic (although, to be fair, so would an arthritic badger).

I can't see you win the Europa, I can see Athletico winning it again IMO.

Samir you havent answered my question, how have Spurs strengthened?

They lost their two best players.

They lack a deep lying playmaker in midfield.

They only have Ade to rely on up front. If he's injured they are f...ed.

If he does go back to the same level he was and improves his game, then we'll probably end up selling him to you. And the sad part is, it's probably true as well!

Fair enough Melton, I look forward to seeing how he turns out for you guys then. I saw Dan Walker on footie focus today say he's apparently nicknamed the "next Vidic". If that's true, you'll have one hell of a player on your hands and a possible Kompany successor.

@AFL

our one man team used to do the same

All it takes is some injuries and new players not hitting the ground running and you find yourself in the Europa spots

You didn't finish the interview. This was on the pretence that nobody was going to come in, he obviously felt Dempsey was going to come in but this changed when we put a silly bid in for Dempsey. Personally I'd have preferred Carroll to Dempsey but as it happens, we have neither.

You do realise how hypocritical that is right?

I don't believe in the notion of a one-man team. It's one of the most ridiculous things that I've heard in Football.

Of course losing Modric and van der Vaart isn't good, but at times, I've seen van der Vaart slow their play down and he has been too greedy. A brilliant talent and class player, but he won't be missed that much. Modric will be a huge loss though, but the fact that they have signed Dempsey, Dembele, Sigurdsson, Vertonghen, Lloris and probably one or two others I can't remember, shows that they are trying to compensate for the absences of the aforementioned players. They had a better transfer window than we did.

They've got decent squad depth and if the players they've acquired can adapt to the style of play well enough, which I think they will, then the losses of Modric and van der Vaart won't be so bad.

It's just a WUM, don't pay attention to it. It also contradicts the statement a bit, does this one man do the GK/defence/midfield work too? Or he just gets set up by the team members to score majority of the team goals.
