Expect more financial ructions at Old Trafford before the season starts.

There are two clubs being artificially held up by Super Rich Chairmen. Without the Sheik and Roman, City and Chelsea would drop faster than a ton of bricks. Harsh but true.

Now, people say without them they would never be able to compete with the likes of United and Arsenal so it's good for the Premier League. And to a certain extent there is a little bit of truth in that.

But any success they have will always be tarred with the money they were given.

I have a really good mate who is a blue. He's been going to City as long as I've been going to United more or less. When they won the title he was of course delighted but I thought I was in for a summer of torture and stick from him. It never happened. Even he is a little embarrassed by it all. Going from nowhere to the top in such a short time.

Looks like it's all over anyway now. FFP possibly, or maybe even the fact the Sheik might not want to invest such amounts with no return year upon year.

As funny as it sounds.......I'm a red and a local one at that. I'v been brought up to hate City and I do most of the time. But even I don't begrudge their fans a bit of the high life.

mate, till hary messed up in feb even your manager was saying we are playing the best football in the league so dont write us off

Lot of young players who will be better and if we improve our deadball situations then we could be very good

City will win it again as they have the best firepower and thats what counts at the end of the day

"Micah Richards cost us nothing, Kompany, Clichy and Zabaleta, the bedrock of our defence during the closing stages of the season cost a total of £19m."

Which is probably less than the average cost of each of the other regulars in the team. Seriously, who are you trying to kid with this? Chelsea fans could have said the same about John Terry, would you have argued that they hadn't spent a fortune to win? No, you wouldn't.

Your club has spent, and is spending, a lot of money to compete at the top. Get over it.

Look, no disrespect, and good luck to city and their fans, but lets not start kidding ourselves that city are in the position they are in, for no other reason, than spending huge sums of money.
Enjoy your success, but dont delude yourself, or try to argue in any way, that it happened due to any other reason, than the wealth your owner bestowed upon your club.
If the Mansour's family dart, had landed in any other part of the league table, that club would more than likely be league champions right now.

to be fair that's why i say hats off to man united. they have sustained success without having a sugar daddy as compared to chelsea and man city. however, nothing against man city or chelsea for having financial muscle that every club would want

I dont agree with everyone putting us as a shoe in for 3rd position. That seems to be the majority vote on here for us. Its too easy to just leapfrog us above Newcastle Spurs Arsenal just because we've signed some POTENTIALLY good players. Some of them may not even settle. So to sum up,

City
United
Chelsea
Dont care

The reason that ADUG chose us was because were a well run, debt-free club with a stadium that didn't need replacing/upgrading. I think the Sheikh listened to expert advice rather that throwing a dart.

You don't know where the other 50% is going though as it could go into a transfer kitty, and we have a weapon other teams do not. Sir Alex Ferguson.

Exactly! These people think they're accountants or something, but they're seduced by the red rag media.

That's the same in any sport. Look at the Olympics for example.

The teams with the biggest budgets can get the best facilities and get the best coaches. That in turns brings in medals.

I'm proud that my club makes it's own money and saddened by owners who suck it dry.

Come on mate

I listen to a Utd fan who works in finance on 5 live yesturday and he was fuming

He said theat buisness wont buy the shares as there will be no value in them so it will be the mug fans that end up wasting their money

Your mate looks like a fortune teller, and a bit of a donkey. Tell him what the lottery numbers are too, United has always run very fine with the debt and nothing will change that.

If people don't buy the shares, which I tend to believe will be the case, It's not necessarily a bad thing for United.

It could possibly force the Glazers to either offer more realistic terms or float the whole club.

To me it doesn't matter where the money comes from, all success is driven first and foremost by cold, hard cash.

Doesn't mean you can't bottle it, just that no one as ever won without mountains of filthy cash.
