Ok brokenbrains i'll indulge you, just this once
They were saying for years rvp was easily better than rooney, when in reality that was only the case last season, and with relation to cesc, there were wild claims too numerous to mention.
RVP was always better than Rooney he was just injured half the time... all I've seen from Utd fans is them saying they didn't realise how good he was. Rooney is a quality player but RVP is on another level technically.
And Cesc was the best midfielder in the league and carried us, nobody got near his assist stats in the league and is one of the most creative players in the world, 70+ caps for this Spain side. overhyped?
"They were saying for years rvp was easily better than rooney, when in reality that was only the case last season"
Even Mancs have come to accept RVP is the superior player. Either way, it was debatable. Hardly 'overhyping' him.
"and with relation to cesc, there were wild claims too numerous to mention."
Absolute drivel. You have nothing here. Too numerous to mention.
Cesc is one of the best in the world.
And Cesc was the best midfielder in the league

Again, your opinion, some people will look at his goalscoring record and disagree, others will look at the assists you mentioned and agree, but to come out and proclaim what you just did is presumptious to say the least.
With relation to rvp, as i have already stated, he was the best last season, and so far this, but the six previous rooney walked it.

You don't judge a central midfielder by his goals.

Who would you say was better than Cesc at the time? And Rooney's just delivered more because he was fit to play so if that's what you mean then yes. But RVP always had more ability he can just prove it now that he's not injured.
Assists is one facet of a cm's duties, as is ball retention, tackling (yes tackling) and occasionally scoring goals amongst other things.
Yes, they do score goals. But so do defenders as well. What's your point?
Cesc carved out chances consistently. He was the highest chance based creator in Europe at one time, apparently. Only a simpleton like you would question him.

You've just typed my point, just above those two lines of dashes, can you see??
Losing Henry was the worst
i can see the threads moved on nevermind
Losing Henry was the worst
----------------------------------------------------
Now i can understand that because at the time he WAS the best in his position, no question.
So who were the better midfielders in the prem at that time Brutus?
Paul scholes
Steven gerrard
But scholes barely created or scored goals. Using your logic he isn't the best in the prem either.
Gerrard? Had one class season, where most of his goals were set pieces.
But scholes barely created or scored goals.
----------------------------------------------------------
That must be the most ill thought out comment iv'e seen on here for a long time.
Scholes at his prime yes but Fabregas was better while he was here.
Forgive me for exaggerating.
As 8bit said, at his prime, maybe.
Maybe.
But while Cesc was here (which is the arguement)? Cesc was better.
We'll have to agree to disagree then, but in my opinion...
Gerrard..............More complete mdfielder,i.e passing, tackling, goals, set pieces
Scholes.............More potent in front of goal, better in the air and just as good a passer of the ball
Cesc...................great passer, clever runs, ability to find space.
