Anybody know what the latest polls are suggesting? The last i heard it was neck-n-neck but Obama had juist enough in the swing states.
One poll I saw today had Obama 48.8% Romney 48.1%
The other was Obama 50% Romney 47%
Both were within the margin of error though so too close to call there.
The President actually can exert significant pressure if he so wishes. They don't have total control but he has huge resources at his disposal to influence events or to shape the agenda through which people are forced to operate.
----------------------------------------------------
But the Federal Reserve is not directly accountable to the President and they don´t have to answer to him directly.
The reason for that is that essentially the Federal Reserve is not an official government organisation even though it does it´s very best at masquerading as one.
The President could theoretically ask the Federal Reserve to do something but in no way do they have to comply as they are not directly accountable to him such is their power.
It makes a mockery of the system of electing a President when in economic terms he has little power or control over the Federal Reserve and it shows that it is the banks and the bankers who control politicians and not the other way round as it should be.

And I would rather Ben Bernanke control the world's economy than Obama/Biden or Romney/Ryan.
------------------------------------------------------------
I wonder how many people in the US even know who Ben Bernanke is and even if they do I wonder if they really understand how much power this man has over America and ultimately the world´s economy ?
Not many I bet.
Bernanke certainly has more control over the economy than any President that enters into the Oval Office.

Hey if you are happy with a totally unelected official controlling the US economy and therefore hugely influencing the world economy then so be it.
At the same time maybe you might want to take a step back and look at the state of the world economy.
Not great is it.
better an economist than a orator of speeches written by other people.
Didn't say I liked the structure, just that a politician is quite frankly the worst possible choice.
This is not even a contest: Obama.

Well at least we can agree that´s pretty much all a President is these days.
I don't like the Fed either Superb
I just dislike the other option more
It's a lesser of two evils thing

But it just shows how utterly flawed and open to corruption the whole system is then.
We elect Presidents who are nothing more than actors who are told what to say and yet our economy is controlled by powerful and totally unelected bankers.
No wonder the world´s economy is on it´s knees and more and more people are thrown into a state of economic slavery.
