Rooney isn't fit to lace Suarez' boots. Suarez is easily the superior player.

Aguero and Van Persie you could argue are better, but Rooney's hapless contributions at international level, his regular droughts and poor form at domestic level, despite playing in a talent laden team reduces his status to good rather than great.

When Suarez becomes the top PL goalscorer over the last 8 years then be can say he's better than Rooney

I wouldn't call Rooney world class on current form either btw.

In terms of performance Suarez has been sensational playing in a team which has struggled in the premiership. At international level he has shone like a star and his form in Holland was extraordinary.

Rooney plays for one of the best teams in England, yet struggles to find real consistency in terms of performance. Plus despite the hype he has been an abject failure on the international stage.

Rooney is a good player. Suarez is better

Sorry busby but I use English language in which 'not better at the moment' means that he's not better at the moment and if I had meant he was 'nearly on par' then I would have written nearly on par.

There is not a chance that I would play Suarez ahead of Aguero or Tevez if he was a city player. I rate him very very highly, but this level he is being elevated to is getting slightly ridiculous. He is in a rich vein of form at the moment and playing well. There were times last year though where is finishing was on the same level as Ade Akinbiye for gods sake

It's funny how very few outside of Liverpool share your views. Nobody has called him a poor player, he's a very good footballer, he simply isn't in the elite bracket of footballers as things stand.

Like I've said, if his last 2 months form continue for the next couple of years then yes, he can be considered this level.

He, like Rooney, tends of go through goal droughts and spurts.

I myself spoke on here (or maybe BBC) about Torres being the best striker in the world during his time at Liverpool. I think that he, Alonso and Masch all got plenty of credit from opposition fans. No he doesn't, he just went through a phase of not scoring as many as his build up play deserved.

He was still scoring fairly regularly, unlike rooney who couldn't hit a barn door for half the season not so long ago.

The problem in this thread is that nobody wants to acknowledge that a world class player could represent Liverpool.

Suarez is phenomenal at both club and international level. Its funny how RVP is considered world class when he regularly struggles for Holland and took him about 4 years in England to find some great form.

So RVP can't be world class because of his first 4 seasons in the PL? How does that work?

I should also point out that he was a 1 in 2 striker in his 2nd and 3rd seasons at Arsenal. He was a good player already, but he couldn't stay fit.
