Rooney would cost more than £30m. You're underrating his talent, marketability and United's power to hold onto the player.

-----

Think about it, we wouldnt sell to anyone in England.

And who abroad would pay more than £30 million?

Maybe PSG? Or Real?

I dont think based on his age and performances in the last 2 years we would get more than £30 million.

Perhaps basing it on the marketing side of things, he would make the club a lot of money, but who would buy him for more than £30 million?

Would anyone really complain with this team?

Carrick Cleverley

Nani Kagawa Lewandoswki

RVP

.................

Me.

-----

Really? Why?

.................

Because I don't play fantasy football.

Kagawa has done nothing to suggest he will be a success in the prem, Lewandoswki hasn't even played in the prem, and you would quite happily see no Rooney there.

Lewa is a striker. He doesn't play on the left.

------

What I meant is I have seen him play out wide and often drifts into wide positions and is very comfortable. But still as a 3 man attack it would work well with Kagawa and RVP.

Gets the beers in mate.

On a less sad Rooney maybe leaving note, I found a DVD quality stream of Django Unchained that I watched last night.

I heartily recommend it. Great movie.

if he was £50,000,001 then yes

Its only one signing, simply bringing in Lewandowski.

Also Kagawa needs time to play in his natural position as a number 10 and I am confident he will excel once used properly.

Seriously you must admit Rooney has been poor this season and last by his standards.

Rooney would go for a minimum of 40m in today's market - not that i agree with it.

Aside from his footballing ability (which is a moot point) but he has commercial appeal is extraordinary.

Isnt £40 million worth considering for a player who isnt going to get better than what he already is?

We can use that money to improve the squad with atleast 3 quality young players.

We lost Ronaldo and were fine, surely we will be ok without Rooney?

posted on 9/1/13

I'm sure many teams would pay a lot of money for Rooney.

I don't rate him as one of the elite footballers, but he is very highly rated within football and for that reason he would cost a bomb.

Fergie will just say 'if Carroll cost £35 you're having a laugh if you think you'll get Rooney for less'.

Yeah he's comfortable wide, but so are many strikers, doesn't mean they should play as wingers.

Also dont forget Rooney is on very good wages, does he have parity with RVP?

Yet Nani is still in contract disputes with the club and we dont think he should get anymore?

Point being Rooney must cost the club a lot, marketing aside.

I have to be honest, a bit of me is surprised that Rooney is still at United after his grumblings around his contract a couple of years ago, I thought his relationship with Ferguson would have deriorated then if it was going to, other players have certainly been shown the door at United for less.

Even though Rooney was wrong, I cant say it was bad for us as fans.

He stated what we all felt and that was the clubs ambition in signing top players etc.

He went from playing with Ronaldo and Tevez to playing with Valencia and Young.

But I am suprised SAF caved into him, very unlike the manager.

To be fair though, Nani hasn't delivered anywhere near to the level that Rooney has. Not even close.

melton,

i agree mate, and for me personally thats part of the reason i think it could be time for Fergie to call it a day.

going back 5-10 years ago the likes of Giggs and scholes wouldnt be playing as they are now, and rooney would have been shown the door.

i think Fergie, while not losing his hunger has such, has certainly lost an edge to him.

I dont think Nani will want what Rooney is on, reported 200k a week?

I reckon Nani is on like 50k or 80k a week and wants about 120k.

posted on 9/1/13

Does anyone actually know Ferguson dismissed anything with Lewandowski as "Absolute nonsense"?

posted on 9/1/13

Rooney wont be paid £200k a week by United.

The only reason people should question his ability to manage is if he stops winning trophies. That Rooney season we won the league and got to the CL Final when most people thought it was beyond us.

This season we're 7 points clear and massive favourites for the league.

The guy still has it.

It was a tough situation really. If your biggest and best known player leaves the club because of a lack of ambition, what does that say to other top players across the world that you may be looking to sign? Had Rooney left, would RVP have joined us? Would Kagawa?

I think that SAF played the whole think perfectly. He let the press know about the dispute and relied on the reaction of others to talk Rooney into staying and showing him how silly he was being.

But now that we are less reliant on Rooney than in the past with other options, perhaps, just perhaps, SAF is ready to get his revenge?

posted on 9/1/13

Dunc

Yeah, I know a few United fans that think that way and still haven't forgiven Rooney for his outburst. It was the first time I can remember from an outside point of view looking in like the player had won in a battle against you guys.

What do you reckon hes on then? Atleast 160k id say. I would say RVP is on the same as both being the highest earners at the club.

posted on 9/1/13

DTKF, you underestimate Rooney's commercial appeal.

He has sold more shirts than anybody since the PL began and is the number currently in moving merchandise - some distance between him and no two.

This.

If SAF gets rid he is the master of revenge.
