We are psychic pals! My Rooney/RVP is different enough to yours so we can co-exist.
Sorry
Rooney is the second best striker in the PL and is a more all round player than RVP imo.
Its just RVP has a more pleasing to the eye style of play which makes people get overly critical at Rooney's technical ability.
Rooney when on form is probably the best all round striker in the league. Unfortunatly he hasnt been on good form for a while, once he ups his game again, RVP and Rooney will be much more lethal than we have seen so far.
I don't underrate him, he was bought as a goal scorer and he scores goals on top of being a midfielder, defender and an absolute beast.
People complain about his touch and while it does look poor sometimes, other times he looks absolutely sick!
Who's better out of Rooney and RVP? Don't know although RVP has got that finesse style about him that makes him look better.
OP hate our quick our fans are to right off our own players
I love Rooney and appreciate what he has done for the club, let's face it his link up play of recent times has gone down hill majorly, his touch at times is that of a school girl and he goes through spells of not being able to hit a barn door with a banjo. What annoys me about him when he goes through these god awful spells which he seems to do for a good 4 months a year is that the guy is pure class. Why does he have these spells?
Rooney is massively underrated and it really frustrates me. Opposition fans use his lack of goals this season as a stick to beat him with, whilst ignoring the fact that he has rarely played up front. However, that is typical of opposition fans and no less than you would expect.
But when I hear United fans saying he's been poor this season then i despair. Do they even watch the game? Do they actually pay attention to what's happening? I'm not going to say that Rooney has been brilliant this season but he's been so much better than people have given him credit for. But if he's not scoring then morons like HNIC will tell you "he hasn't been on good form for a while", and happily ignore the fact that he has played the majority of the season in a more withdrawn role.
For me, Rooney is still the first name on the teamsheet for the big games.

Rooneys also had two injuries this season already
I think it is unsurprising that a season in which our wingers have been poor or injured has also coincided with people moaning at Rooney and Scholes.
A big chunk of their game has been to get the ball out to the wings and push forward... The wings just haven't returned the favour.
Rooney has three major flaws.... He takes a while to get back to match fitness, he scores in bursts and his touch is not as perfect as other #10s.
Other than that, he is about the most complete attacking player in the league.
Ji
I agree. I also think our defensive problems have also been down to poor wing play. Having the ball lost up the field from poor wing play is making the ball come back at our defence a whole lot more and is causing chaos.
Massively underrated. Some fans have an obsession with tiki-taka football - they don't realise what Rooney actually brings to that number 10 position. Kagawa has done nothing to show he should take Rooney's place there.

I disagree Bloodred. Kagawa played for Dortmund therefore he should play where he wants. And we should sack Fergie and replace him with Klopp
Underrated? Most overated English player! He's got talent but is inconsistent as hell. One season he'll do good the next he'll do crap and so on. Never been on the same top level to be considered that good.
i dont think he's underrated, i genuinely dont think he has improved as a footballer since he was 19/20 years old, thats not to say he's not a brilliant player because he is, but i honestly thought we were going to see one of the best players in the world over the next 10 years when he was 18/19 which hasnt happened
He is one of the best players in the world though...
Well said Rave. I always felt that too. His potential at 18/19 said he should be up there with Messi/Ronaldo.
When Rooney isn't playing and fit, it shows
Everton lost. Rooney no where near fit
Spurs first half pants. Second half brilliant. Rooney came on at half time
Norwich - lost. Rooney missing
For me, he's United's best player and the player we miss the most when he isn't playing
I get slated for saying he is the heartbeat of United but I don't really care
So much of the 'meeja' seem to take some sort of delight in portraying Rooney as some sort of thicko - whilst anyone who has played the game along with the thousands of us who are able to turn up at OT week in week out plus all our other Red brothers and sisters know exactly what we have in WR and that is a genuinely technically brilliant footballer - rant over

has a very good range of passing, has a good burst of pace

No he hasn't,
Agree with others, hasn't kicked on from looking like a world class prospect at 18/19, also, wanted to leave us because we didn't have the players to match his ambitions, tell you what, look in the mirror Wayne
