He is clearly trying to force a move, Cesc-style.

Excuse:

The problem is you're not looking at the external factors or other actors that we are competing with who will have a huge say on Champions League based on their spending habits and the existing conditions of their squads.

Excuse:
We have 6 competitors for 4 places normally. We've now had Leicester and Wolves in the mix - the latter of whom have finished in a European spot for a 2nd consecutive season after being promoted.

Excuse:
It is not as easy to achieve as it was in Wenger's days - you only need to see how much Man Utd have spent and struggled to see that too.
-----------------------------------------------------------

You see thats what it looks like to me. Look at the teams directly ahead of us.

Wilder, Mourinho (just installed), Nuno, Rodgers, Ole, Lampard, Klopp.

I think Arteta is good if not better than all of them. Why can't Arteta do a Klopp? you have to believe that he can and hold him to it. If you start giving him excuses before he starts how are we judge if he is doing well or not? If he does fail we can assess the issues at that point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm sorry J99, but if you think me mentioning legitimate points is me 'making excuses', then you clearly have no interest in nuance or attention to detail.

It's like saying "We used to win the league - now we don't - let's just ignore the reasons for why that is and focus on those facts."

We do not have a clear path to the Champions League - fact.

We are facing more competition than we used to - fact.

We are also not as good as used to be - fact.

We will struggle to outspend City, Chelsea, United or Liverpool - fact.

Our recruitment has not been amazing and that needs to improve otherwise things will not get better - fact.

You saying that Arteta is equivalent to Klopp is based on nothing tangible whatsoever. He still has a lot to prove - expecting him to move the earth and then lambasting him if he doesn't achieve that does not seem reasonable. Lets not forget that you were comparing him to Moyes prior to the last two results.

If you're THAT in favour of aiming high, then why dont you arbitrarily set the target of him winning the league? Hold him to that standard then? Why stop at merely top 4?

Your argument is so flawed.

Samir you are talking bull here m8.

We dropped 3 points against Brighton, 2 points against Leicester and I'll say 1 point against Spurs. Thats 6 points. I think we will get to 59 points. That would put us on 65 points. That qualifies us for the Champions League this season when we changed manager and as Lexington claims were headed for relagation!

All your myriad of excuses is just your lack of faith in Arsenal and Arteta for me. Great media talking points to put us down. But thats all it is in my opinion.

Aside from everything that's wrong with what you said I'll go for the open goal

66 points at least will be needed if you ask me

Whats wrong with what I've said?

Leicester vs Man Utd last game

Chelsea vs Wolves last game.

Think 65 points makes it.

How do you not see how asinine this is? We DIDN'T win those points.

This argument can be applied to literally ANY of the clubs above us. And still, you are refusing to acknowledge that other teams will be looking to improve on this season too - it is not only us.

"All your myriad of excuses is just your lack of faith in Arsenal and Arteta for me. Great media talking points to put us down. But thats all it is in my opinion."

I'm sorry, but this garbage - pure and simple - garbage.

I have provided more reasoning and support for my points than you. What have you done? Just made lazy arguments with no context and created hypothetical scenarios that are irrelevant.

It's pathetic.

United have 2 games and are on 62 points so just need 4 to surpass that 65 mark.
Chelsea are on 63 with 2 games.

Both Leicester and United have far superior goal differences as well, so if United win tomorrow and Leicester win on Sunday then our hypothesised 65 wouldn't be enough.

As such, it would be highly unlikely our theorised 65 points would have been enough for top 4.

Nah, it's ok DJ. In j99's world, he could never, ever possibly be wrong. Everyone else is wrong. Everyone else has faulty logic. Everyone else doesn't understand.

It's only him that gets it.

Lazy arguments. I like that term. Very derogatory without meaning anything.

Point is we dominated those teams. We did to Spurs as well but be fair to them, they do have top class strikers. That can give you an indication where we are in our development under Arteta.

You have no faith in Arsenal whatsoever Samir. Very disappointing.

"Lazy arguments. I like that term. Very derogatory without meaning anything."

It's lazy because you don't actually reply to what I say and you ignore where I directly address the questions you ask me - you just regurgitate the claptrap from before and continue doing it, thinking it'll make your (non)points more valid. It doesn't.

"You have no faith in Arsenal whatsoever Samir. Very disappointing."

If that's your hot take from all of this, then it's no wonder people get fed up of debating with you. I may as well have been speaking to a fecking brick wall all this time.

We should have beaten Leicester by my calculation so shouldn't you be subtracting 2 points from them? And if they beat Man U? Man U could lose to West ham after their Fa Cup result.

But its possible. We would be in the discussion. Does that mean we are way off Champions League like Samir makes out?
