Either. Where did Rutgers come from!!

Dubbed, you only have to be in a knockout competition to win it, literally.

In the long term England winning the WC will be the worst thing that can possibly happen, the nation will rest of their laurels and think everything is allright.

I mean ffs were still living off 66 (which bring the phrase living in the past, onto a whole new level).

Rutgers is the man for England

"This is the problem. There is no English manager who has the right style or the philosophy to take it on. "

That's why the FA should look at the bootroom approach, there is surely some manager down there that has the right idea moving forward, or atleast a better idea than the likes of Roy and Pearce do?

Dubbed

They only played negative stuff against Italy. They played some good stuff against Sweden and France.

Give Roy a chance. He had no time to prepare for the Euros and has actuation managed in Europe. He's a lot better than Harry. A guy who was awful at QPR.

That's why the FA should look at the bootroom approach,

Tried it with McLaren, it failed.

How England do at the World Cup shouldn't inform what we do in terms of youth development.

I'm pretty sure that when Germany got to the 2002 World Cup final they didn't think 'oh, everything is rosy, let's not bother with the restructure'.

We need to increase the talent pool of English players. How we then turn that into a side capable of competing at the World Cup is another thing altogether.

Darren

Thing is, England have taken steps to fix the youth system. Anything that the national side do between now and then is a bonus. Like you said, if that awful German side of 2002 can make the final then anything can happen.

English people should stop slating the national side. So what I'd they're not as good as Spain or Germany. They're a solid top 10 side who can beat anyone on their day. Surely that's good enough until the youth system starts to produce great players?

True, Rob. But people are right to feel aggrieved when the football we have to watch is dire and they fail to do the basics expected of a pro footballer.

Hodgson should never have got the job. Say what you like about Harry, but he'd have got this group of England players playing so far more entertaining stuff.

This is what annoys most England fans.

It is the same in any sport or physical skill. You are only as good as the standard of coaching you receive.
Admittedly this quote is taken from 2008 but it has not been fully addressed and this is surely what Mr 'Nice Guy' Brooking should have been improving upon if the grass root football was to improve:
In 2008 UEFA Pro, A or B licensed coaches
Germany 34970
Spain 23995
England 2769

Well when Roy had his first choice front 6 for probably the only time against Brazil in February England looked quite amazing. If he's lucky with injuries that front 6 could take England far.

I don't understand why people are blaming Hodgson. They were doing the same with Capello too, I remember.

These coaches can only do the best with what they have. And English players, bar a few, are all generically talentless and one dimensional.
You could have Fergie or Mourinho in charge and they'd still struggle.

One game in god knows how long where we played some decent stuff. And Brazil were terrible.

I don't care if we go out and attack and lose. At least it'll be worth watching.

Fair enough. I just think the only time to truly judge Roy is after he's had a tournament with England and one he can properly prepare for.

If he's awful in Brazil I'm certain he'll be fired. Maybe then you can bring back Hoddle!

We probably won't make it to Brazil.

Cole and Lamps has to alternate between Mourinho and Roy next season.

That's like rotating between Miami and North Korea for 9 months.

The Mourinho of now is a shell of what he once was. I doubt he'll still be at Chelsea in 2 years.

You guys should have gone for Pellegrini or Heynckes.

One bad season does not make him a lesser manager.

Remember when their was calls for Fergie to "do the right thing and retire" during the mid 00's?

Thought we did pretty decent in the Euros... ignoring the actual play and just concentrating on results...

We not exactly world beaters ATM anyway so I wasn't expecting much...

He falls out with players and most likely will at Chelsea. This season he had his best ever chance to win silverware but he failed on every level. And he had Ronaldo in great form. I don't think he's shitt but you may be surprised as to how his magic touch isn't as great as it once was.
