Am I reading this wrong or are you defending the rate to be racist?
...and by rate I actually mean right...
No I'm just chatting asking the question why it makes someone a bad person when really his beliefs are probably from his upbringing and as such not a choice of his. Someone said above religion is not something under your control which I don't agree with btw but if that's the case surely racist beliefs are the same thing?
If a person has a belief but harms no one it surely doesn't make them a bad person?
Racism does harm people, though. Just because it's not physical harm doesn't excuse the harm caused by it.

if someone believes that black people are inferior to white people simply on the colour of their skin then yes they are a 'bad' person
Hmmm not sure I agree with that, a lot of people in this world think their religion is the true religion and other religions are wrong punishable by eternal hell does that make them bad too?

I would say yes but I'm not the right person to ask as I'm very anti-religion.
Stop harping on about physical harm to justify people holding racist beliefs.
If you think that it's acceptable to hold racist beliefs because you aren't physically harming someone then you are also part of the problem that we have in society.
"It's ok, I'm not going to give this man a job because he's black, even though he's best qualified. But it's ok, I'm not racist, because I don't go around beating up black people and I have a black friend."
I wouldn't say I'm anti religion but I don't have much time for it but I don't consider religious people bad just weak. Same with racists I don't consider them bad just ignorant
Darren calm down I'm being completely non confrontational it's just a chat, let's not resort to mud slinging try keep it civil
I'm not mudslinging, just picking holes in your completely flawed argument.
It may be flawed man in my eyes tho it's what I believe. If someone has a belief nurtured from a young age most likely I don't see how theyre a bad person. They're a misguided and ignorant person there's loads of words for them but bad isn't a word I'd agree with.
But that's not really the point. How a person came to hold these beliefs is not really what we were talking about. It's the fact these beliefs are held which is a bad thing. And just because they aren't causing physical harm does not mean that these beliefs should be defended.
Every bad person is a product of their upbringing. You cannot disregard what they are because they were raised to be that way.
Overall I suppose you're right in that if it's tolerated we take steps backwards. I reckon it comes down to the tolerance levels, some will have more tolerance for flaws in people than others.
While I wouldn't hate someone for having a belief like that I don't respect it but have some understanding of where it stems from.
Yeah, I see what you're saying there.
If a person has a belief but harms no one it surely doesn't make them a bad person?

So if a bloke says he can understand why people sleep with underage children and can see how people get tempted but wouldn't do it himself, does that not make him disturbed mentally?
Jes man I'm not even gonna go there that's another level altogether taking it to extremes. That's not a flaw in someone born of ignorance like we've been talking about at all.
Sorry to dig this up, but what all this simply comes down to is where you get your morals from.
E.g. other people, your own feelings, the Bible etc...

It's all a matter of opinion with no right answer.
I could easily argue that all 1 billion Muslim people on the planet are bad people because they believe that I am doomed to suffer eternal damnation in the fires of hell for not believing in Allah...
In fact it offends me gravely because they aren't judging me for my skin colour, they're judging me for what I believe(or not in this case) in.
Is that any less offensive than racism?
...oh and to avoid the inevitable bashing if I don't say this, the same can be said for Christianity

No, and i'd imagine anyone spouting any of that stuff towards a member (or members) would also get their marching orders.
Well i'd hope so anyway....

So if you disagree with it, then it's wrong? Or if the majority do, then it's wrong?
Terrible basis for making judgements IMO. I do agree that a football forum isn't the place for religious debate, but equally if a topic (such as this one and others) is about it then such comments should be freely allowed.
E.g. if I said 'I think your views are wrong' to someone who said 'stealing is good', should I be in trouble for judging them? No? What if I said it in response to someone saying 'illegal streams are good'?
