Chelsea deny Mata/Luiz - OFFICIAL

I said 20m-30m, 35m maybe. Nowhere near the 50m or something, you valued Rooney at, on the other thread thats for sure.

Rooney's problems are more the fact he has been, at times, covering for an inept midfield or inept wingers last season and it has nothing to do whatsoever with playing at number 10..

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Maybe macca but he ended up with a pl winners medal and was a poor ref decision away from the cl qtrs or better with this "inept" midfield . Lets not forget he himself also had his worst season form wise since he signed for utd.

Bit of a longshot, but, could this be Rooney's way of telling the management to sort the midfield out? I.E, he's unhappy doing their job, and wants some more quality behind him?
---------------
nah, Rooney ain't that bright

The more I'm looking at all this and the more I'm reading the exact quotes it is bringing me to the conclusion that it is all complete media bollox and nothing more

I thought earlier that a move to Chelsea looks inevitable now but maybe, just maybe, United mean what they say when they say he simply is not for sale.

Now Chelsea have made an official bid known, perhaps the club and Wayne will put an end to all this once and for all

BlueDroog does logic hurt your brain?

Money where your mouth is or p i s s off

So you think clubs always make an initial bid they thing will be accepted?

You think United would rather have a toxic player in the reserves while his contract runs down than take a sizable fee? And then further to that not only have a disruptive influence at the club also lose out on at least £20million while ffp is looming and you think that is ‘no biggy’? Thankfully for you I suspect he club you support has a little more sense than you and would think with a business brain not some immature sense of one-upmanship.

That or his agent is making waves for one last big pay day before Rooney's career comes to and end - Highly doubt he'll be able to play past around 32 ish.

If Mata is not involved, why are you decreasing your value of Rooney then to 35m when you explicitiy said you value Mata at 35m alone.

Yes I do. As I have stated look at the players we sell, they have always gone abroad. We have lost out so much on players in the past, we're not afraid to lose money on players (bad thing I know).

From a business perspective of course it makes sense, but to strengthen a rival for what the club dont perceive to be a good enough bid, you can bet your bottom dollar it wont happen.

The club wont sell him, he will be rotated and told to buckle up and at that point if he wants to be sold in the last year of his contract he will need to put in good performances for potential buyers.

As I have stated, we have no reason to sell him.

If he is unhappy he can train on his own.

The club stated that Rooney is not bigger than the club and they will not let him affect the morale etc.

Because at that point that is what your clubs perceived value of Rooney was.

If your opening bid was 20M we're not stupid enough to think we can get 50..

Its called compromise.

This isnt about getting one over someone, its making me laugh that Chelsea think they can get one of our players so cheap, hasnt happened before wont start today. Remember Veron and Mikel?

posted on 17/7/13

As I said a lot of this will ride on whether United can get Fabregas or not. If we dont sign anyone (which doesnt look promising at present) then Rooney will have to stay makes no sense getting rid of him.

If Mata is worth £30 million, then I would say 20M plus Mata is fair, Rooney is worth atleast 50M maybe a little more"

Rooney's value wont go down to 35m ish if Mata is not involved. That's not how it works. Your initial valuation and what you think will be offered by Chelsea for Rooney was delusional

Moyes stated quite clearly Wayne has come back very fit and was training very well. Other players, including vidic, have said he's fitter than he has been for about 5 years and Moyes went on to say how much he is looking forward to working with Rooney

If you interpret that as Moyes having the intention of him rotting in the reserves then you need to have a little re-think

You know as well as I do Rooney will not be at United by the close of the transfer window if he doesn’t want to be. You also know he has the propensity to be one of the most destructive players if United attempt to run down his contract in the reserves, especially given the WC is approaching, it just won’t happen. You clearly want United to appear firm in this case but keeping a disruptive Rooney at the club an unhappy player to later leave on a free is not clever, it would actually be foolish, they can get rid of an unhappy player and take a decent fee. To keep Rooney to appear ‘strong’ would actually be a very immature and misguide move one would expect from a child.

If the scenario earlier was correct at that point it was, it has obviously changed because Mata hasnt been involved.

Now most United fans know Rooney isnt worth no more than about 20M at present, but because Chelsea are involved we will want to get as much as possible which can be anywhere from 35M upwards.

If he was sold abroad we would happily settle for 20 to 25M if the player agreed to this.

Will never happen and you should know better than this. If Rooney wants out he will need put in a transfer request and if a bid comes in which we feel is good enough we will sell. If not he stays, as I said its as simple as that, its just the way the club runs.

Chelsea are gutted but is it at United? Where does it say they are mad at United? They are mad at whoever cooked up the story and its more likely to be the media than United.

Funny how some of you are jumping onto the delusion bandwagon and looking like you will accept anything that makes United look good no matter how deluded it makes you look.

Chelsea's statement refers to what is being briefed to the press in Sydney. Who is in Sydney right now?

Make that the media

Moyes has spoken very positively about Rooney and the club have said he is not for sale

The media are all over it with misqoutes and made up nonsense

You're not getting me. Why have you changed Rooney's value just because Mata is not involved in the deal? It doesnt make sense. A car is worth the same amount of money whether you use another car to part ex with it or not. The only thing that changes is the value of the px car and the money you offer to go along with it. You said Rooney was worth 50m or more. Maybe you can agree, you wont get nowhere near that even if a player was involved in the deal
