At the start of the season I would have definitely said yes.
Now I would say definitely not.
Strange how things can change in 4 months. Rooney has done very well to be honest and fair play to him. Still not a huge fan of the lad and not sure I trust him however cant fault his commitment
Rooney will definitely refuse to sign a new contract. He's attempted to leave us twice, once for not showing ambition and the second was, well I don't even know - We won the title.
He'll definitely leave if we do not get a Champions League spot.
As for your question OP - The swap was ridiculous back then and still is now. Definitely would not!
Rooney will walk if united don't get Champions league.
Chelsea couldn't afford him outright now anyway after their loss. Rooney would be upwards of 40m
He will run his deal down and return to the blues. He's won everything at club level and made his fortune I believe he believes it's time to come home.
I like Rooney but there are some major draw backs about signing him:
- He'll be 29 in October and I just sense he's only got another two seasons on him.
- wages

Hen they can sign him for free in a year?
Rooney could let his contract run down and make a lot of money moving on a free.
After football what's he going to be a pundit?
Eeerm eeerm he played eeerrrrm a good game errm
I know that Darren, but would you like it to?
Surprised to hear all the no's tbh.
While Mata isn't exactly a midfield maestro, his numbers over the past couple of years have been outstanding (bar this year of course). He is also much younger than Rooney.
Mancblue Jamie carragher has who is too say he can't but I agree that's unlikely hes not the most comfortable in front of the camera even these days.
I dunno. Rooney has been good this season but I still rate Mata higher. Problem is whether or not he'd walk straight in and play to his best, especially considering how bad we've been playing, and that could prove costly as Rooney has carried us this season - which says a lot about how poor we've been when we are still only 7th and have played crap football.

If Garth Crooks can be a pundit, then anyone that can spell football can.

Considering that blithering bitter idiot mike summerbee got on tv I think that gives anyone a chance to make it

Carra and Summerbee managed it
Was Summerbee that chap who got really bitter when Rooney scored that bicycle? That was cringeworthy stuff
Yep that's him. Never seen anyone so wound up, he was crying because I thought city weren't getting any credit and that they deserved something. Correct it was cringeworthy
I do think Rooney is easily a better player than Mata, and I am a big fan of him. But I just don't see Moyes wanting Mata. He will certainly not give Mata a free role to do his damages. But I do think we will be strong favourites to have Rooney, if not this summer than definitely the next for free.
He won't be free next summer. He will be free this time next yr if he doesn't sign a contract
Yeah that's what I said. We would be able to start speaking to him January 2015.
Of which we will either sell him in the summer for around 30m or he will sign a contract
