BB paid £1600 for a clutch

Didn't BB say he broke his clutch in an automatic?

I am at will to pick up the cup and place it back in the cupholder as I so wish.
.............
Well, that isn't really true, is it?
You are reliant on whether you have to change gears or not.
Seems an inconvenience to me. One I don't have in an auto.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I have enough patience that I can wait the 1-2 seconds it takes to change gear. Generally I don't really get mad urges to drink coffee that would mean I get frustrated that I have to drink right at that exact moment, that happens to be a moment when I am changing gear.

Oh, so my point about autos being ridiculously expensive to fix has been touched upon?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
auto transmissions are expensive when they break but manual engine repairs can be equally as expensive depending on what the problem is.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
a refurbed manual gearbox will cost you about a grand, maybe 2 tops depending on what car you have. BB paid £1600 for a clutch
----------------------------------------------------------------------
you can be unlucky in any car auto or manual when they start giving you problems. If autos were that unreliable millions of people around the world wouldnt be driving them.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course, they aren't any more reliable/unreliable than manuals but the cost to repair the part(s) which differ the two (i.e clutch/gearbox) are likely to be more expensive on an auto.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Which was my point, autos are more expensive.

All gearboxes (manual or auto) have to have a clutch to allow gear change. In an auto it is an automatic clutch.
BB, I agree with you. I think blabla must have misread.

VC. Just have a glass of water in the morning.
Equally as awakening as a cup of coffee.
Well the transmission if you want to be picky
I'm not a car man. I drive a 1 series which work pay for and it gets me from a to b.
I used I drive an astra which also cost me a fortune for a flywheel, cambelt and a clutch. Fortunately somebody hit it whilst parked and it was written off.
Not if he's in an automatic.
If he were in a manual however, he'd get the water all over his face, shirt and trousers which would wake him up.
I will catch up with this tomorrow
I have enough patience that I can wait the 1-2 seconds it takes to change gear.
..........
So have I, I just prefer not to.
HAHAHA
Is VC still rambling on about not being able to drink coffee at will in manuals? Jesus
If I didn't know better I'd say VC has a coffee cup fixation, he just can't put it down!

Put it this way conor, I prefer to drink my coffee under my terms than haiving it dictated to me by gear changing.

I just think it's funny that you think using a cup holder is difficult as opposed to constantly holding the cup.
I've got an image of you driving along holding your cup right in front of your mouth ready to drink at any time. You wouldn't dare hold it any further away because bringing it to your lips would just be more effort and would waste valuable drinking time!

Maybe he holds it in front of his face with a straw in the cup, other end in his mouth with his lips constantly grasping the straw so he doesn't have to move at all when he drives. Imagine the crisis if he has to roll his window down for a ticket machine or something
I just imagine VC. The only reason he lives is for coffee. His car is coffee coloured, with some coffee scented fresheners. Only driving to and fro the coffee shop. Works in a coffee producing factory.
Leaves a trail of coffee beans everywhere he goes in case he gets lost.

Good for you.
I can actually imagine VC going into a car park but refusing to roll down his window to get a ticket cos its too much effort. Just shouting at the barrier calling it a bed wetter and telling it that its wrong
