Same here
But my first car will definitely be an automatic.

DONT make this mistake. Go with a manual. It makes you a better driver.
Wow, just realised how late I was on this thread

I was just about to comment on how we have made it to 400 comments throughout which the occasional passerby drops in with actual advice relating to the OP
So VC has gone and the thread dies...
Knew it would happen.
To be honest, the only information of worth I actually garnered from this thread was that, between the ages if 16 and 38, VC regularly spilt his drink whilst driving.

yeah i did my licence with manual cars but my family has an automatic and i have been driving that for four years and now i can't drive manual anymore
manual really stinks though, it's beyond me why anyone wants it (apart from if you are racing). so much more difficult for very little gain.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough. I look at it the other way: not much more effort for much more gain.

that isn't what i mean. there is less enjoyment for me in the acceleration, because instead of just basically doing nothing and going faster and faster, you are constantly fiddling with your feet and hands.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
but you aren't going faster and faster, there is a "clunk" during the gear change

Thanks for your input
I wonder how many times #20 has mistakenly put Manual instead of Auto and vice versa in this thread
It's not as if you can do a rubiks cube whilst driving an automatic
you stil need to use your feet and your hand to control the wheel
manuals, you get more of a buzz out of them
automatics are slower to pick up in speed
all this does not matter though if you are someone who doesnt give a toss about cars and just want a car to gets you from a to b but generally young guys love their cars
