Most people use autos in the States I think.
.................
Yes they do.
The only people who really drive manual are in the remote areas. These are known as the backward.

RPV nice, my brother has a Golf. Never really gotten used it though. He's got a.1.9 TDI but the brakes are too sensitive. Dont like driving it. I had a Honda Civic a few years back. That was nice to drive and was nice inside and out.

No clue where that is to be honest.
I spent a while in the San Diego area when I just started working but I'm guessing it's nowhere near there

TBF, the 1.9's are shocking. Great for economy, but if you want a blast (and want it to look decent) then it is to be the 140 or 170 GT Sport. Also have a rolling overall MPG of 50.1 but often get up to 56 or so on individual journeys.
Not tried a Civic (or anything non-V.A.G tbh), only ever had Golfs since I passed my test and family & girlfriend have always had VW or Audi's...
(Would you believe I had to put .'s in between V.A.G as it is banned?!)

Manual every time. When you learn how to drive and drive both, you will see why the manual is better

As I said before, it depends where you are driving it.
If you asked anyone in the States, who drives in stop go traffic every day getting to and from work, if they would swap their automatic to a gear stick you would get laughed at.
