If someone uses a chainsaw, (not a standard saw) to chop down a tree, are they lazy, or energy efficient?

If a commis chef chops vegetables with a mandolin not a knife, are they lazy, or energy efficient?

I can understand the control aspect of driving but surely in this day and age, you can't be called lazy for taking the option whereby technology makes things easier.

It's different though. In those examples the new technology delivers better results. Automatic cars don't. And for sake of not having to move a gear stick every now and then, I don't see that they make your life THAT much easier.

Don't think anyone is disputing that they are easier though.

The argument is though that driving a manual is more fun, thus automatics take the enjoyment out of it. You couldn't say that cutting a tree down with a chainsaw removes the fun of using a junior hacksaw instead

Do all cars have cruise control? I'd love to use that on a motorway

The worst is when you see these little clapped up tinted Clios with 4 exhuasts and bumpers that are virtually scraping along the road

I can just kick back and relax, maybe have a little snooze as well. Stretch the legs

In that case you probably have a decent amount of power/torque anyways.

You have the right idea, but the difference in ease is much greater for chainsaw-saw than it is automatic-manual.

I'd compare it to holding the A/X button in FIFA to let the computer play defense instead of defending yourself

you will be hard pushed to find a car within "1st car" budget, with cruise control. Also, cruise control is pretty shít unless you are on a straight road with no other cars. If there is traffic, you have to slow down/speed up anyway.

Only passed my driving test 8 days ago, but can't see myself wanting anything other than a manual for the foreseeable future.

My car for driving lessons has cruise control, my instructor even said I can use it when I'm going down a long road on the seafront.

Mr C,

I had my car chipped to 270 from 225 bhp. Great fun. It would wheelspin going into 3rd on damp roads.

What car do you have Just Shoot?

Ive found cruise control just never really works. You cant use it properly for long enough.

the only one that does work is BMW's - you have a wheel on the indicator stalk which you roll up or down to increase/decrease speed.

Yeah I take your point conor it was well made.

I think an angle no-one has looked at yet when debating this is the Ryan Giggs theory.

Argument against Manual cars:

When Giggs was in his earlier years and picking up hamstring injuries, the fact he drove a manual car was rumoured to have contirbuted to said injuries. Fecking Manual pieces of sheite

Argument against Automatic cars:

When Giggs changed to an automatic car the injuries seemed to slow down, The Automatic had made life easier on his hamstrings, so much so (with a bit og Yoga thrown in) he is still playing to this day. Fecking automatic pieces of sheite
