I'm just putting it out there, I have never spilt a drink whilst driving my (manual) car.

Manual every time. When you learn how to drive and drive both, you will see why the manual is better
......................
As I said before, it depends where you are driving it.
If you asked anyone in the States, who drives in stop go traffic every day getting to and from work, if they would swap their automatic to a gear stick you would get laughed at.
-----------------------------
To be fair, polling Americans is hardly going to get you the best answer
Wonder what the percentage of manual and Auto drivers are in the UK

Approximately 84% of private vehicles in the UK have a manual rather than automatic transmission.

I couldn't care less what Americans do, or whether they'd laugh at the suggestion of driving a manual car. Manual cars have benefits, that's why I drive one.

Wow 84% is ridiculously high.
I would have guessed somewhere between 60-70%, because it seems nowadays people are driving manuals less and less. Probably due to laziness or inept drivers that just want their license.
sadly not at work... feckin restraints

No..........it's because autos are dull.

This. Also if you break down in an auto or your battery is mullered and cannot get service on your mobile or are miles away from a breakdown service, there is feck all you can do.
