Yes yes about stats.

It's not as though I haven't used my eyes. All I've said is that people go over board on here acting like playing Moreno is suicide which I find daft.

It's looking more and more likely Moreno will be first choice so get behind him I reckon.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Of course I'll get behind him. Doesn't mean we have to rate him though....

All the stats in the world won't tell you Moreno has a mistake in him at the most crucial moments. Anyone who watches him regularly can see it.

The ones that lead to shots and goals?

Less than Can.

You can be damned sure the coaching staff use LOADS of stats.

Makes sense with the new signings and Ojo looking like he could get himself a good few games this season

The way some of you guys act when stats show you to be misguided in some of your opinions

How fackin childish to be unable to admit you might be wrong,

No one is arguing moreno doesnt have a mistake in him, just that its not the end of the world if he plays, he has the raw talent, he posts decent stats (theres clearly a reason you guys are not football managers, who all use stats, and have groups of staff underneath them dedicated to working with and reporting on them..)

If hes creating the chances and they are not being put away thats the strikers fault, considering how unsettled we were there again last season, its not beyond belief is it?

So long as he tracks back and recovers the ball good, thats all we need from the fullback in this system, theres a reason we have two sitting midfielders, and its not so the fullbacks can sit right back permanently giving us a 6 man defence

We've had a dreadful defense over the last few years. We need to upgrade our defenders if we want to improve. Of our starting 4 last year Moreno was the weakest. He should be first to be replaced.

A poor signing all round. Never came close to showing enough for us or loan to justify the fee. It will be interesting how much of his cost value he maintains.

Rarely did I see a player look so disinterested and manage to have so little impact while on the field, as Marko.

He had a good run of performances before that red card in the EL.

But i cant see him getting many if any games this season, hes had a good preseason, but hes not going to dislodge our senior players, or some of the backup we have bought, so its probably best to recoup some of our money.

Hope we insert a buyback clause again though, still think hes immensely talented, and we dont want a de bruyne situation

Yeah he's been a poor buy, always looked too weak for this league, not a great attitude and shown very little quality. Poor season in Turkey last year and always injured.

I'd be interested to know who was behind us buying him, Rodgers or the committee or both. Questionable at the time, and very questionable now.

Think we should be able to recuperate a large chunk of the £20m we spent though.

Personally disagree.

1. We play an attacking style, that will always result in more goals conceeded

2. We have had Skrtel in the team a lot, over his entire career with us we had approx a 15% lower win rate with him in the team than out.

3. We have had various injuries to what will be our primary centre back pairing (lovren and sakho) and when we did have our "first 4" defence on the pitch, we improved in terms of results.

4. A lot of people blame Mig as well, ive always thought he was okay, but some of the stats are pretty shocking, such as his saves per goal conceeded, which undermine his supposed ability as a shot stopper. He also most definately can NOT marshall a defence, where we desperately need a leader.

5. We have had a change of manager and of tactics in the least season

I haven't lost hope that he can improve but for me he still has mistakes in him because he switches off defensively. This has an effect on his team mates. Add in a error ridden keeper who also can spread panic and unease you don't have a great defence.

I'm not adverse to stas If I deem them relevant but where is that stat that opposing teams have targeted our left side to catch Moreno 5 years further forward than he needs to be. Or that a midfielder hasn't covered if Moreno has bombed on?

Committee for sure. You could tell which players were Rodgers favourites, and which ones were moneyball signings. His downfall was his pride, trying to prove his signings were the right ones.

Marko had a very good record before coming to us, and was very highly rated, a season in the wilderness and being used as a gap filler killed his confidence, and we have all seen what that does for youth, just look at sterling!

He has had a poor season for injuries now too, his confidence is shot, but the talent is there, and the player that posted great stats before joining us is too

He could have had a very different career with us had rodgers tried to utilise him correctly, but i feel he was probably just a pawn in a power struggle. Im glad klopps here now and made it clear our process is a very normal one that he is happy to work under.

I think rodgers just bought in to the whole "complete control" myth that surrounded say ferguson, who himself has said at the end he had little to do with the coaching or day to day managing of the team, afterall one man cant do it all

As i just posted in a previous message, i hope that karius can organise a defence better than mig, although as of yet im unsure who our "number 1" actually is.

people attack our left hand side because its usually our most attacking, Moreno and Firmino/Coutinho is always going to be easier to get at than Milner/Lallana and Clyne.

Some of the blame for the lack of cover falls on the player ahead of moreno, if hes getting doubled up on, which happened a lot last season, where is the left sided sitting midfielder, where is coutinho?

Im not disagreeing he makes mistakes, what im arguing is that hes not a "terrible" player, statistically he is very good at attack, and decent defensively in a generally poor and unsettled back 5.

he probably needs to learn more focus, but klopp obviously thinks its there, and that he has potential, otherwise he wouldnt be pointing out his mistakes to him.

Chilwell is the only solid bid we made for a left back and he would have been backup, so klopp is obviously happy and sees the fault lies elsewhere, hence buying a new first team DM, CB and GK but only looking for LB cover.

Our defenders are pretty bad, Sakho is like Moreno and always seems to have a mistake in him but people on here don't bring that up. Lovrens had a few good months after an awful year and is being overpraised, who knows which Lovren will show up next season.. Can't comment on Matip or Klavan as I haven't seen them play.

Clyne is great though, but he's the only one that would start for other clubs aiming for Top 4

I may be wrong, but I wouldn't be too surprised if Milner takes Moreno's place at left back. I hope to see how he does having a run of games in this position.

Moreno can be reckless and unfoccused and despitê aot of games hasn't really kicked on. Klopp and his coaches might get the best out of him, but it's between the ears Moreno has his issues. I don't want him sold but this is a big season in his LFC career and there are s massive questions as to whether he is a genuine assist.
