Aside of England 94 was a good tourney
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was decent. I hate seeing games being played in 100 degrees though. Doesn't feel right and you can see the impact it has on players which always makes me feel slightly robbed of them playing at their best at a tournament that should be all about being at your best.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Mexico was way hotter wasn't it?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Probably. Doesn't change my opinion on any tournament being played in temps that hit those levels. It is detrimental to a game that should be the peak of everything in the sport.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If you want a summer sport, that's summer in many many countries.
Italia 90 was hot too, as was Spain and France

What about people who live in those hot places. They have leagues too and they play in hot weather. Being an international sport, the weather at the world cup cannot be designed to suit players from certain regions only.
The world cup is played where it's played and all must take it on the chin IMO. If it's too hot or cold for certain players then too bad IMO.
Need to play it in Ecuador at altitude. Really sort the men from the gods then
Yeah RITH. There's a South American country that purposefully plays home matches at very high altitude, no? Not sure if it's Ecuador but they have a great home record.
I think that’s Bolivia.
I remember them beating the Argies 6-1 a few years back in La Paz. Basically their players just couldn’t breathe

Football is a winter sport? So how do they play it in countries that don't experience winter?
It can be argued that the best players are those that can play football, not those that can play football only when the temperature is suitable to them.

Yeah, should be Bolivia
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s it La Paz in Bolivia
Let’s have the World Cup there!
Football isn't a winter sport when the world cup, euros etc are all in summer.
Literally no difference between playing a game in Dallas mid summer or Toulouse, Rome, Manaus, Mexico City, Sevilla, Barcelona etc. They all hit those temperatures and more in the summer.
Basing it off our tepid British temperature is pure arrogance.
The Brazil World Cup was held in winter. So was South Africa. I’d imagine the Copa America is generally in winter too.
Can’t call football a winter sport when the bottom half of the planet has winter in opposite months to the northern part. Sure even countries like Ecuador don’t have the traditional seasons. Just wet and dry.
Good points manfrom. It's also clear that altitude and cold weather can impact performance, not just not weather alone.
Yeah they play in summer over here because there’s no chance of games being held in the winter. Snow storms the size of England dumping a couple of foot of snow on you and the attic air dropping temps to way below zero.
I love my team but I’d likely die if I tried to watch them play in those conditions.
Football isn’t only a winter sport, utter nonsense.
