Let's hope Klopp doesn't revert back to playing Fab at the back after one bad perfect which was more down to the midfield.

Midfield let us down yesterday. Can see Klopp had the same idea, I was referring to. No ways Madrid would've lived with us if we closed down Modric & Kroos quick enough but our midfielders were practically spectators on the pitch yesterday.

Well first half mainly.

Strangest thing for me in that first half yesterday was how many players looked overawed by the occasion.

9 of them literally won the CL 2 years ago but you wouldn't think it watching that first half.

Fair play to Zidane too. He knew he didn't have the legs to go toe-to-toe with us so just dropped deep and hit us in the space. Space we've been giving up all season.

Kabak the only one sort of exempt from the criticism imo.

Mane was very poor last night, lost the ball on far too many occasions. Wijnaldum was too slow with and without the ball and it probably wasn't the best game to throw Keita in as he looked off the pace in the first half.

Very surprised by the first half performance. Lacklustre and no intensity at all. The 2nd half was much better, but 2-0 down at half time was always going to be a struggle, even for the tie. 3-1 is better than 2-0 though.

How Mane & Wijnaldum finished that game last night is beyond the any laws or logic that can be applied using more than one brain cell.

I actually want Wijnaldum to leave at this point so Klopp can get over this obsession with him.

Mo Salah's 18 away goals in all competitions this season is the most ever by a Liverpool player in a single campaign.

Certainly a couple of fresh players are needed in attack and in midfield after last night. Ox and Shaqiri aren't going to be good enough, they've been around for a few years and have enough problems themselves so a player or two in that area will be needed.

Another attacking player will be needed to fill the void for Mane and so he can be replaced. Just another Jota or somebody in that ilk with more effectiveness than Origi and Minamino.

I would like us to go for a Neto/Raphinha player who can play both wings which gives us a good front 5 even if 2 could be declining. Then replace Origi with a Daka.

That would make too much sense for 2021 Liverpool.

We got bossed last night, simple as that.

First goal was Sunday league, and the second goal was why trent ain't going to the Euro's

I still think we can do it, but we're gonna need a close to perfect performance next week..

Hopefully lessons have been learned.

Somebody else who may be a decent buy and potentially as a much cheaper option would be Matheus Pereira at West Brom. I've been impressed with him all season really, seems to have the quality and he may do a good job being back up. Wouldn't take much convincing I don't think and would offer more than Shaqiri, Ox, Minamino and Origi I would hope.

For me it is about combinations and synergy to complement each others game. We had it against Arsenal with Fab, Milner and Thiago but Wijnaldum and Keita ball watching when Madrid had the ball was the reason for allowing them to play long balls behind our defence.

Firmino is essential to our pressing game and linkup play. He is very good at cutting off passing angles to the opposition midfield.

Have I fack, this is the furthest I've been ahead in years. Last year I was ahead by a few points for one game week late in the season.
