Would I like someone brought in, for sure, we all like a shiney new signing, but I suspect there is a reason we get very few transfers wrong, if any, so I trust out management as well as our players.

Apparently we're expecting some offers for Nat...but that's from Pearce soooooooo completely made up in his head.

My opinion is we are light up front no doubt, at least in terms of challenging for the league. There has definitely been a drop off in quality in that area since the 99/98 point seasons. Firmino and Mane just aren't nearly effective, they were truly world class back then. I expect they will have periods of good form and bad form going forward, but it's impossible to see them ever return that elite level really, that's how it is.

Jota has been a great signing and will score a lot of goals for us, but I'm not sure he'll ever reach that same world class level personally, his ceiling just seems lower in terms of technical ability.

I was of the opinion at the start of the summer that we will likely win more games as a result of conceding less goals this season, but expecting similar frustrations in attack and a similar number in terms of goals scored.

From what I've seen so far this season it's going pretty much as expected really and I stand by it. Still expecting 78/79 points from this team.

Minamino has a chance to make something of himself this year, Klopp himself has said that he's in great shape so we will see.

Can't argue with much of that and don't want to either.

I feel the H2H's will determine so much this year though and we are capable of getting higher than 78/79 points if we win half and draw the rest.

We will need a bit of luck, with the others having a bit of bad luck, to win the league.

I predict 3rd but it would be no surprise to see higher. I don't think it will be any lower.

Minamino has shown potential on the odd occasion that he could be useful, but he's never really done it with any sort of consistency, only in glimpses.

Having said that, his opportunities have been limited and inconsistent to say the least.

I don't rate him at all but would love to be proved wrong.

I fancy us to win our next two games and 13 points from 15 would be an excellent start.

Ah go on. It seems to be the norm on here now

His positioning and movement is not at the standard we require.

In our 17/18 side that was based on chaos, he might've survived but now that we actually require intelligent footballers, he's never going to make it.

Only saw MOTD. Rangy isn't he. I do like him and can see why we're interested.

seems to have grown a lot as a player, still only 23. Wonder if we're keeping an eye on his progress this season as we were linked a few times.

posted on 31/8/21

Lets see how he does this season. He's 23 now so in general terms, that is usually the age attackers transition from potential to consistent performances.

We can't buy another AFCON forward.

I would go for Gakpo who has the technical ability in tight spaces to play through the middle and he has the pace to play as a wide forward.

Sarr is similar to Origi with the ball bouncing off his feet. He needs space which means he is suited more to a counter attacking team like Leicester.

didnt bounce of him vs Spurs his hold up was great, good strength too. Few years ago id agree but as i said seems to have improved his overall game. Still early ofc but from what ive seen so far hes improved a lot in the champ.

That's also true.

I did feel as if he had a chance an one stage during a couple of months when he showed there was a bit of potential at the back end of last year. But seems to be out in the cold now.

I didn't see the game this w/end but in general when watching Sarr, I don't really get the excitement. He doesn't look anything particularly special to me. Good but not great.

If we were going to go for anyone from the EPL then I'd still like to see what Allan Saint-Maximin can do around other top level attacking talent and under a genuinely top class manager. He's a long way from the finished article but I reckon Klopp could make him a real player.

Maybe you are right and he has improved.
I'm not a fan of signing african players who play in the AFCON.

ASM is more of a traore type for me, pure luxury. Sarr can actually offer something off the ball.

posted on 31/8/21

ASM/Traore would be great options from the bench though or vs lesser teams where we have 70 % possession... Like vs Chelsea
