Hendo improved 2nd half as he clearly got piissed off but him and trent were fortunate to still be on the pitch by the time the 3 subs cames. they were by far our worse players.
Nah Hendo was really good yesterday. Did the defensive work next to Thiago and then took over when he went off. Made some good forward runs. The problem was Fab when he came on. He was all over the place.
Carvalho maybe I was generous but I liked his ball retention, running with ball and pressing. Probably a 7.
Trent while more disciplined he just didn't look good. I'm happy that he is no longer allowed to freestyle and is just a right back.
hendo was awful on the ball struggle to make simple 5 yard passes and rarely forward ones was shown up next to thiago on how to play football. As i said he improved as he got angry out team mates and the performance second half, seemed to push him further up the pitch as he went chasing and had some good moments but prior to that it was all thiago, hendo to me was getting in the way and making poor passes that barely made the target etc. Think he forced zouma to hit his own bar and had a decent effort on goal bailed out trent once with some good defending this was all 2nd half when he improved as i said.
fab coming on, as bad as he was prob helped hendo as it prob changed his role/position.
The only holes you could pick in Hendo last night was that he looked a bit lost because of Thiago just roaming the pitch freely.
Thiago likes to get on the ball so will always position himself in space to receive the ball whereas Hendo will position himself based on closing gaps. They just didn't look in sync enough but still enabled us to dominate that first half.
Trent did fine until everything in front of him changed. The triple sub really rocked us but with so many games coming up we have to manage the minutes
Trent wasnt so much defending though that one time when he lost the flight of the ball let it bounce then got rinsed by benrhama was shocking. It was more the aimless passing that annoyed me with him especially with the wind with how it was, his body language didnt look gr8 too. maybe sulking hes being asked to be more disciplined at rb?
Trent also laid the red carpet for Antonio to go past him which lead to a very good chance for Scammaca
For me if Ibou is back then Gomez goes to right back.
commentators made the same point again, hes not aggressive enough he doesnt engage in tackles, as if hes afraid to get hurt and it often is like that.
Ill give him credit for one thing last night though, he closed down some crosses which is something hes often failed to do.
think he had cresswell that side too whos pretty handy.
West Ham didn't really have anyone with pace on the left

I thought the much maligned (deservedly so)Trent did well last night apart from being skinned in the dying minutes of the match, leading to that Milner block.
He was positionally disciplined and sat a bit deeper. He showed a willingness to close his man down and prevent crosses. He also played some lovely forward.passing from this deeper position and his his corner kicks were excellent.

Trent's been off it this season but I think last night showed a lot of his (and ours) troubles have come from the change in tactics at the start of the season where he's been roaming into the 8.
He was evidently asked to play a bit more traditionally last night like you said, and he looked better for it.
It could have been easily a draw because Trent was beaten by Benrahma in the 1v1 for the Soucek chance. I still maintain he needs to play further forward.
Gomez needs to play rb.
so next up 3rd 12.30 kick off of the season after playing wednesday night
Nunez is getting better but needs to calm down a bit in front of goal. That moment where he hit a great shot against the post but then sliced it way wide a few seconds later kind of sums him up. I think by the end of the season he'll be a different player though.
dont think he expected it to fall to him and snatched at it, should have used his left foot again think it was better angle for it.
i think he blasted one over from a wide angle too which i dont mind because it was his weak foot (left) and to beat a keeper from that angle u need to hit it with pace.
I think the chaos is Nunez...don't expect him to fizzle out
hes a handful wont be nice to defend against.
kids only 22 too people seem to forget, someone was tryna dismiss it think it was an arsenal fan, oh hes played 200 games already. So? doesn't really change much thats hes still extremely young and has a lot of time to improve.

match thread the other week had someone saying he looks slow
Sometimes hes just up vs defenders who are deceptively quick especially over the first few yards.

That's sick. I remember last year he left Konate and I was like woah.
His acceleration is also impressive
