To me Nunez was dropped to the bench and trusted leas long before the injury claims at the end. Klopp has preferred gakpo ever since he came in and soon as jota and disz came bk nunez barely got a look in.

Ofc its rare but i wouldnt put it past em if it wasnt pennies and could help itd make sense especially if out of favour as he clearly was anyway. Big summer coming up look after the pennies and all that. Just wondered if it played a part maybe. Or if it would have if it was say 10m. But yeah if he was seen as vital to cl push odc not.

This Nunez first season is probably marginally better than Werner's first season. Plenty of sitters missed by both.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Marginally better?

Goals per min in first season:

Werner (EPL) - 434 mins per goal
Werner (Overall) - 319 mins

Nunez (EPL) - 189 mins per goal
Nunez (Overall) - 158 mins

I simply don't understand why some fans are so down on Nunez. He's not smashed it obviously but he's done ok. I get why opposition fans rip us but surely everyone can see we've got a player with huge potential?

Hey hey easy on the City stuff. They still receive sponsors to this day from companies that don't really operate

Werner has a lot more assists in his first season. Funny how you missed those out

========

For no other reason than cost. That's it, there can be no other reason.

Werner did get a surprising amount of assists tbf.

posted on 24/5/23

Werner has a goal involvement every 120 mins since going back to Germany, so not bad. That season or two before the Chelsea move he was on fire.

posted on 24/5/23

Quite like Werner myself.

Ever seen him interviewed? He's a bit bonkers (which I like).

This board jearly broke when we missed out on him and Havertz though

He's playing with a strike partner again, that's why.

Was never a lone striker...still think he would've done better with us than at Chelsea

For no other reason than I didn't look it up!

Nunez's goals per minute equates to better than a goal every other game. Is that not good enough for a first season?

171.2 was werners goal involvement for chelsea in his first season. so fair bit worse than Nunez.

Seeing as it's all the rage atm; I'm going for my own 2+2=5 post.

Press conference yesterday Pep went to town on praise for De Zerbi; most influential manager in the last 20 years, impressed at the speed of his impact etc

He also said he intends to be here next year but doesn't know how he'll feel after the CL final.

Any takers for the idea that he may decide to move on if he wins the treble with City, avoid any backlash from the EPL investigation, and is lining up De Zerbi as his replacement?

His comments were a bit odd, but he is odd isn't he.

Sounded like he was more likely to leave if he lost the CL final to me.

De Zerbi is special though, the way his Brighton plays is crazy but so entertaining and admirable whilst also being very unique. Deserves recognition from people like Pep.

No idea, this thing over cities head is not nice though he prob knows City will drag it out throw enough money at it until they can't lose it but he wont wanna be around for that long. Every extra day its over their heads the more damage it does to all his and his teams achievements?

He clearly already feels like they dont get the credit they deserve because people brush it off for the obvious reasons/excuses. Evident cause he brings it up all the time always making sarcastic comments like hes a chip on his shoulder.

It definitely gets to him I reckon, yeah.

Good.

Where would he realistically go after City though, PSG seems the obvious choice but aren’t they appointing Jose for some reason?

posted on 24/5/23

Maybe he'll have a break, did he once say he'd try international footy? Not sure.

I'm very sure that I can't wait until he leaves though! For all the chat about money, he and Bergiristain are the difference makers.

Don’t know. Not a lot of obvious options are there. PSG, Juve if he wants a crack at Italy, Spanish national team, Brazilian national team?!

Just struck me as (a) slightly non-committal on future, (b) clearly irritated by the legal challenges and (c) bizarrely complimentary about De Zerbi.

But as Robbing said, he's an odd guy.

Well according to some reliable journalists who actually went to the FA with their findings say that Pep and most senior players receive salaries from companies that associated with City or the City group.

They all are well aware

I seriously doubt anything aside from maybe a settlement or small fine comes from the City charges.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why? (seeing as there is absolutely no precedent for that leniency).

We've seen everything from reduced squad sizes to points deductions.

posted on 24/5/23

The FA must have a case and they will look stupid if the charges are dropped.

They will finally be able to pay Wembley upgrade off

posted on 24/5/23

Yeah I'm hopeful of it being much worse than that.

Because City are likely smarter operators than the PL and will likely be able to get away with it through various loopholes in the rules.

Well if they get a small fine then they will have been found guilty of something.

I suspect it'll either be nothing or reasonably severe.

posted on 24/5/23

I hope it’s severe!

But if they do get away with it I hope we get Qatari owners and give up our current model. If you can’t beat them…
