Kind of this. I honestly can't think of many. I don't even mind over paying but not to the point that Palace and Fulham will pull our pants down over Doucoure and Palhinha.

It'll be Paraedes on loan or something shiiiiit like that.

Maybe it'll just be some bid from absolutely nowhere though.

Paredes has gone to Roma on loan I think.

I actually think a £80-90m offer for Barella would be accepted and is probably the best we could hope for.
Convincing him to up sticks from Italy could be really difficult though.

Fofana fits the profile of player we go for most and supposedly in the last year of his contract, he played some of France’s matches at the World Cup so there’s bound to be some talent there

I tried the post this a couple of weeks back and utterly failed - Palhinha fares very, very well against other supposed targets:

Yeah he works, bit of a foul magnet but yeah he has skills.

I saw £70m quoted though. I mean maybe but that seems an incredible amount.

Stupid amount but everyone knows we're desperate so we're going to be taken to the cleaners by any club.

I was about to write that there's nothing wrong with a DCM that likes a foul, Fernandinho pretty much made a career out of it! Then I remembered our defending at set-pieces....

Barella is a number 8. We need a dm who can do a job to allow Mac Allister to link the play further up the pitch.

Gourna Douath from Salzburg is a good dm. He was very good in the CL games I have watched him. It won't surprise me if he goes to Brighton.

Being linked with Sangare again too who has a release clause.

That's one hell of a step up for a 20 yr old - Austrian league to CL chasing EPL side.

Even Halaand, who is not a man burdened with self-doubt, recognised he needed an interim club.

He has proved himself in the CL. He goes to Leipzig or Brighton and he will be a 100m player.
We need to take risks buying these type of players because we can't compete with the likes of Chelsea.

Don't be so ridiculous. We had one bad season after years of challenging for the biggest prizes. We're one of the biggest clubs in Europe.

Yeah I don't know what it is with clubs like Chelsea and Utd they can spend years in the wilderness and still have the pull to sign pretty much whoever they wanted whereas we have to be perfect just to have a chance, one off season for th first time in years and we've lost loads of pull even with Klopp.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't think we've lost pull. Sometimes a player just has his heart set on a particular club for one reason or another. We've just signed a World Cup winner who was being linked with Man City.

He might. And I'm fine with the club taking risks like this but significantly less fine with putting all our eggs in the basket.

I wasn't watching avidly yesterday because I was entertaining the kids whilst the game was on but I didn't really notice TAA inverting that much (at all?). Wondering whether a RB might be an easier purchase and finally move TAA into midfield. I seriously doubt it'll happen though.

What's 70m these days for someone who can give you good 4 years. We have players with a season or just a half season under there belt costing more.

United took Casimero at 30 and he transformed them. Yesterday Chelsea almost won that game after we had a corner and this happens for too many times that we get his on the counter. Paulinia will stop that happening.

No nothing about Douath but any idea what price would be required?

Also can’t wait until the window closes and no more signings

We're an exceptionally attractive option for 98% of footballers.

At the end of the day this is now down to Schmadtke. We've got money, we know the project.

Personally I thought it was telling that he was removed from the Caceido negotiations but maybe I'm over thinking it.

Trent was inverting yesterday but we only had about 35% possession and Chilwell was causing a lot of problems so he was primarily just playing as a LB

Trent inverted in the build up phase but he played as a fullback when we defended in the 433.
There were a few times when he misplaced a few passes in the second half in midfield whjch started the Chelsea counter attack.

Like he said yesterday, when we lose possession Konate goes to fullback and Trent goes into the CB position but this would be fixed when we have a physical dm who can do that role.

I don't think he was inverting. Think it was his more regular right back role.
